OF BURLINGAME PLANNING COMMISSION
May 14, 1962

An adjourned meetin of the Burlingame City Planning Commission, from the
regular meeting of Aril 23, 1962, was called to order on the above date
i at 8:00 p.m. a Commssioner Norberg, Chairman pro tempore, presiding.

Chairman Norberg a hounded that the adjourned meeting had been scheduled
to conduct a publi hearing on an application filed by Joseph Gurka,
property owner, to resubdivide Lots i and 2, Block 2, East Millsdale
Industrial Parts, V it No. 1.
Upon determination by the Chair: that the applicant was not in attendance,
nor represented, t e hearing was continued to the next regular meeting of
the Commission, Ma 28, 1962.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting regal rly adjourned at 8:05 p.m., with an announced that a
Commission study eeting would follow immediately.
STUDY MEETING
1. RESUBDIVISION+- Lots 31, 34 and 35, Block 30, Mills Estate No. 11.
A map proposing a resubdivision of the above -described properties, pre-
pared by the engi eering firm of Wilsey, Ham & Blair, was submitted to
the Commission by the City Engineer.
The Commission wa advised that the resubdivision will change existing
rear lot lines of the three lots in order to take from Lots 34 & 35 an
area of approxima ely .24S acres to be added to Lot 31.
The City Engineer explained that with the .,proposed line changes, the
three lots will continue to meet the city's land area requirements.. He
`!advised that he a d the City Planner inspected the properties and were
sat*sfied with th proposal.
Mr. Richard Fishe�, owner of Lot 31, was in attendance and discussed
his plans for imp owing the area which he will gain by the resubdivision.
A public hearing as scheduled for the next regular meeting, May 28,1962.
2. SIGN VARIAN E - Bell Electrical Company.
A communication f om Bell Electrical Signs, Inc., dated May 7, 1962,
requested a varia ce to permit 1/8" non -illuminated plastic letters on
the marquee facia lat the Town and Country Realty office at
1801 E1 Camino Real in the Burlingame Plaza shopping center.
The communication 'dvised that all signs on the building are restricted
to the marquee £aca. On the Trousdale Drive frontage, the marquee
projects over the ity sidewalk in excess of four feet.
A sketch of the prposed sign, and elevations, accompanied the communi-
cation.
The City Planner r ferred to the provisions of the Sign Ordinance,
Section 1863, pars raph d., "Signs Upon Marquees", where,_In-it is pro-
vided that "No sig or advertisement shall be placedupon a marquee be-
yond a point measu ed four feet horizontally from the property line".

Mr. Dewey Bell was in attendance and described physical aspects of the
marquee and the pr posed sign.
The City Planner m ntioned that the marquee is continous around the
building. Undoubt dly, the pattern for advertising for all of the
remaining business s in the building will be established by the Com-
mission's action i the present application.
Commissioners agre d to visit the property and scheduled a public hear-
ing for the next r gular meeting, May 28, 1962.
3. DISCUSSION RE: VACANT PROPERTIES - ARC WAY.
Commissioner Edward mentioned certain vacant properties in the 1500
block of Arc Way an obvious evidences of vandalism.
The City Planner ad ised that word has been received from the owners
that they expect to start the new construction shortly.
