An appiicatfon or the use of the premises at 119 Primrose Road for the
offices of vari us charitable organizations was read. This building
was originally residence and the property is zoned R-3. It is being
used by the viol tear Bureau, Senior Citizens, Braille Transcribers
Guild and simil r groups.
A letter from s. Lieutard, the owner of the property, was read.
Mrs. Pauline Umland,, representing the Braille Transcribers, was present
and explained t e conditions of the property.
A variance is n cessary to continue the non-residential use and a pub -
lie hearing was set for November 27, 1961.
2. VARIANCE
Permit Gasoline Service Station In R-3 District.

Mr. Eugene Signarowitz presented an application for a variance for
the use of property at the northwest corner of Peninsula Avenue and
Dwight Road for a gasoline service station. Mr. Kircher represented
the Hancock Oil Company. the proposed occupants.
Mr. Kircher stat d that this would be a gasoline service station only,
without a lubrication rack or other automotive services. They would
sell other types of merchandise to attract customers for gasoline sales.
When questioned as to the variety of such merchandise, Mr. Kircher
advised that the items could not be specified as they would charge: but
would include ci.arettes, Kleenex, coffee mugs, soft drinks, etc.
Mr. Mann said hat the definition of a gas service station in
Burlingame pre lulled such merchandise sales. Mr. Kircher said that
they could ell hate this approach and put in a lubrication rack.
His company ha a standard metal -type building but agreed that
changes in are itecture could be made. He also agreed to install
such landscap as the Commission would require.
Fore Signarowit stated that he had owned the property for 25 pears
and had never ad any use of it.
The matter wasiset for hearing on November 27v 1961.
The Commission discussed various matters involving future planning
in the city, I#oluding the use of R-2 zones and height limitations.
The Commission representative to the Advisory Planning Council was
changed, with Commissioner Norberg as delegate and Commissioner Moore
as alternate.
