Librarian's Report Brad, the City Librarian, advised the Trustees that Easton Library would be closed for termite tenting July 5th through July 8th. B. Foundation Report - Technical Equipment Upgrade in Lane Room • The Foundation paid for the technical assessment upgrade by the same company that installed the equipment when the library was rebuilt in 1995. Brad, the City Librarian, would like to use this company for the project. • The time line is for 6 months with a start date in November of 2023. VII. A. AMH Presentation — Ray DeLara Ray presented the Trustees with an update on the necessity of upgrading to a new AMH System and how significant the AMH System is to the workings of the Circulation Department and the library as a whole. • Circulation needs to have upgraded software and hardware; current AMH software and hardware are outdated. • Upgraded AMH provides improved ergonomic features. The current AMH system was also partially purchased to reduce wrist injuries due to constant opening of DVD cases. • Ergonomic bins, conveyer belt system, less sorting errors and faster returns are upgraded features of a new AMH. • Sorting materials into their specific bins will be faster and large collections such as children's would benefit as picture books will have a separate bin. • Materials will be returned to the shelves in a more timely manner due to faster check in and immediate removal from patron's record. • Lyngsoe, the selected AMH, is less expensive to purchase than the current system the library has. Multiple libraries have already purchased their AMH systems from Lyngsoe • An important factor in approving the AMH from Lyngsoe is that the actual purchase of this system has to be through PLS. PLS helps our library maintain the machine and our payments are made through PLS. • PLS will require that all AMH Systems in the PLS network have their approval. B. Trustees' Approval The Trustees unanimously passed a motion to provide funding for the purchase of a new AMH system made by Lyngsoe in the amount of $272,127. VIII. Old Business A. Meet and Greet Event is June 21, 2023 on the staff patio from 9:00-10:00 AM B. IX. New Business A. Cooling Center - (City Wide Policy) The Trustees reviewed the "Cooling Center Policy". The sites will not be open at the same time and will alternate holidays. • Only 5 staff members have to be present at a time. • Temperatures have to be in the 95-degree range for a two day period without a 30 degree drop in the evening before the cooling centers will open.
