BACKGROUND •BIS Circulation and Pedestrian Improvements Update – Staff is checking with BIS staff regarding making the drop-off zone on Quesada Way permanent, and has replaced the temporary weathered signs with new ones at both locations. Additionally, the turn restriction signs on A-frames have been replaced with new weather-resistant signs. BPD has placed BIS, specifically Clarice Lane on their selective enforcement list for patrol officers. Although the Traffic Enforcement Division has been understaffed, they have been onsite recently with enforcement. They found there were approximately 15-20 vehicles that attempted travel westbound on Clarice Lane. Officers were able to contact most of the drivers and re-educated them on the turn restrictions. Officers found that nearly all the violators were BIS parents (except for approximately two). Traffic officers will try to make it onsite again within the next month and then report back. Staff have also contacted BIS staff for assistance to remind parents of the turn restrictions, as well the same assistance from the BIS PTA. DISCUSSION Some of these items may have been originally presented to City staff and/or the Traffic Safety and Parking Commission as public requests or comments. Items on this list are matters that would typically be addressed by City staff on an administrative level, or are City Capital Improvement Projects. Matters that require broad public input or have a wide-spread impact are addressed as Commission “Discussion/Action Items” (TSPC Agenda Item 6).
