I:Z17�1[�1:�11� Present: Chair Kirchner, Commissioners Batte and Chu Absent: Commissioner Bauer Staff: Parks and Recreation Director Glomstad and Parks Superintendent/City Arborist Disco, Recording Secretary Flores Others: None MINUTES Chair Kirchner made a motion to approve the August 8, 2022, Regular Meeting minutes. The motion was seconded by Commission Batte and was approved 3-1-0. Chair Kirchner made a motion to approve the August 8, 2022, Special Meeting minutes. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Chu and was approved 3-1-0. CORRESPONDENCE None. PUBLIC COMMENT None. OLD BUSINESS 1. Trees of Burlingame Ad Hoc Committee Members Update Chair Kirchner discussed the timeline he created delineating tree events in the City of Burlingame ranging from 1846 to the present day, 2022. He explained that although it will not be a part of the publication, it is meant to provide an understanding of what has occurred in the past and how it may project into the future. He stated that he is currently working on the low -hanging fruit chapters and will have two difficult chapters that discuss governance over time and a glimpse of the future. Director Glomstad asked for clarification on the different colors on the timeline. Chair Kirchner explained that the beige is events that shaped the trees, groves, and the governance today versus the green that is strictly groves. City Arborist Disco confirmed that the grove of Eucalyptus trees on Skyline Blvd does not currently have a name. Director Glomstad stated that if the Burlingame Historical Society vets the timeline, it will make a great addition to the City of Burlingame website. Director Glomstad and City Arborist Disco praised Chair Kirchner for the work completed to create this timeline. NEW BUSINESS None. REPORTS Director Glomstad reported the City Attorney's office is working on the update to the tree ordinance. Director Glomstad provided an update on upcoming City events and volunteer opportunities for any interested commissioners. She stated that Brown Act training for commissioners is open for signups. Director Glomstad stated that the underground parking garage at the new Community Center is open for use and provided an update on the remaining construction items still pending in the building. Lastly, Director Glomstad explained that the Community Center is not ready to host hybrid meetings due to equipment backorder. Chair Kirchner suggested taking a moment to recognize Dale Perkins's contributions to the Commission and the community at the presentation of the Business Landscape Award at the October 17, 2022, Council meeting. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:49 pm. The next Beautification Commission meeting is scheduled for October 6, 2022.
