PRESEI,IT - Counoilmen Buck, Hancllos, Eigh, Eives and Eunt. ABSBNT Councilmen, Sone. The minutes of the meeting of 0ctober 14, 1955 were read and approved. A letter was read from Yr'alter Yanclervort of the Broattway Yellow Cab Company statlng that through his physiclanrs order, he was com- pe11ed to retire as maneger and owner of ti:e Broaclway YelLow Cab Company. H€, therefore, w&s disposing of his cabs as quickly aspdaslhle. Pcllce Chief Earper tnformed the Councll that he had beentold"'tbdt a Mr. ALlea was going to take oyer the cab buslness but no appllcation was before the Counoll. fhe eomunleatlon was ordered pLaoecl on file. A letter was reacl from J.Y. Gaffey, 0wner of the Gaffey Building opposlte the City HalL, requesting that the pole carrying electricwiring anil transformer of the Pacific Gas anil Electrie Conrpaiiy be removed from its present location, pleading as justiflcation tirat the pole is unslghtLy and has deprectated the rental value of hlsproperty, also that lt ilctracts from the vtslbillty of a proposed [eon sign about to be placetl there by one of hls tenants. llhe cornmualcatlon was orderecl refered to the llghting commlttee. A draft of a letter was reacl which the property owners abuttlng the llerraee Creek Proposetl Improvement are asked to subscrlbe to.fhat for the amount of S28.L6 by assessment placed on tax bills ln a perlod of four 1nsta1lemnts, they w111 help defray the cost ofthis lmprovement. Councilmaa Eunt opposed suah action on the part of the Council stating the Ctty has control of the creek and inasmuch as Callfornia Drive Drlve Improvement had been taken careof out of the general fund, the same shoulcl apply 1n thls lnstance. CounclLman Hunt also objected to the wording of the letter whlch he serys statetl clty funds were not available and suggestecl if that was the case, that the anount required be transferred from the waterfuntl. Eayor Buck,ln reply,statecl that the Callfornia Drive knprovement was cllfferent ta that property owners aII over the City recelve e benefit,whereae, the beneflts in this lastanae apply onlyto abuttiag property owrers. Ee was wi11lng to prooeocl with the prevlous aottortaken by the Councll of eontrlbutlng $ee00.00toward thls lmprovement but did not belleve the Clty should make up the ctlfference of S1?e1.00 that uust be further met before the work can start. A motlon, therefore, was offered by Councllmaa Eigh and seconcled by Councilman Eunt that the letter be sent"property owners requesting thelr partlclpatlon in the assessuent to the arnount of $28.16. Idaitlantl,property owrler in the area affeoted, offered hls gervlces to air-strlate the letters whtch was aooepted by the OounciL wlth thanks. 0n oertlflaatlon from C.M. lfhomas, City Englneer, that Frederlckson and Wetson, Oontraetors for the Burlingame Sewage Disposal Plant had completerl the work to hls satlsfactlon, he, therefore, recom- menrled to the CounclL that the acoeptanee of the plant ancl aontract &s oompleted.
