There belng no one pre-sent to protest the proposal at the Councll meetlng, Corrncilman Byrd moved that the Coirncil concur in tho recommendation of the Plannlng Comnlsslon and that the resubdivlslon be approved andthat the record of survey map be approved and filed. The motlonwas seconded by Counclkcan Hunt and r.rnanlmously canrled. A letten dated. September 29, 1950, f-rom the Board of Fire Com- m{ ssioners was nead recommending the purchase of a quantity offlre hose. Action on the recoumendatlon and purchase was with-held at this time ln or.der to a]lovr the Cor:ncl} to d.iseuss the subject with the Fire Chlef and the Flre Conmrisslon at a laterdate. . A communieatlon dated September ?8, 1950, from K. S. Flteh,Director of 3ublic I'rlorks and I. Karmel, Clty Attorney, was read reco$mending that a contract be awarded to F. S. Ro1andi, Jp.e Inc.the low bidder for the proposed addltions to the Cityt s Sewage Dtsposal Plant and in the amount of a net bld of $tter4l1.OO. The Counell was advised. ln a commr:rdcatlon from the Department of Finance that the proposed projeet has been approved and. authori-zatton would be forthcoming from the State A1]ocation Boar.d. forthe necessary funds. Jenks,Consultlng Sanitary Engineer, be engaged to perform services ln connecti-on vrith the proposed Sewage Disposal Flant enlargements. Couneilman Simonds introduced and moved the adoptlon of Resolutlon ]{o. 43-50 accepting the se:rrices of l,'ir. Jenks at a fee of {i15O.OOper month covering the period of eonstruction ancl two months of 2.L8 lnltlaI operation of the enlarged plant, second.ed by CounclLman Byrd and adopted unanimously by vote of the members present. A letter dated. September 29, 1950, from K. S. Fitch, Dinectorof Publlc TIorhs, was noad submlttlng the recomrrendatlon that the contract for the purchase of a portable alr corapressor be awarded to the low bidder, The Bdward R. Bacon Company, ln thetotal amount of $21620.65. Councl]man Hunt moved that the ro- eommendation be accepted and the contraet be awarded to The Edward R. Bacon Company, seconded by Councilman Byrd and. unani- mously caruled. As the curyent budget provld.es for the expendl-ture of $2r200.0O on the above purchase, authorizatlon was granted to expend the add.ltional $$+e0.63 from tho unbudgeted reserve fund, on motion of Gouncilman Byrd and unanimouslycarried. Action on a request submitted by four residents of Corbez Avenue, in a letter dated September 18, 1950, to remove a large eucalyptus troe on the southwest corner of Easton Drive and Cortez Avonue ?Ias wtthheld until such tii:re as the Councll and Park Superintendent may vlew the tree in questlon.
