A regular meetlng of the Burlinganre City Council was held on the
above given date. It'ieeting called to order at 8:O0 p.m.; iiiayor-Love in the Chair.

The mirnrtes of the previous meeting of Apnil 1?, 1950, as
submitted. to members of the Council and as posted on the
Bulletin Board were accepted unanimousS-y on motion of Councll-
msn l{unt and seconded by CounciLuran Slmonds. 0n motj,on of
CounclLu.an Hunt, seconded. by Councilman Simonds and unanlmously
carrled., the minutes of Aprll 18, 1950, on the eanvass of
electloir retunns lyere adopted as submltted to members of the
CounciL and as posted on the tbltettn Board in the City 8a11.
A letter dabed April 26, ^1950, was read from Edward S. Goetze,
Pr:esident of the Reereatlon Cornnlssion, advlsing the Councj.l of
the Comrlssionts approval of speciflcations submltted. for Ray
Par.k playgrsound. equipment. Councllman Simonds moved that tlre
Counci.l concur in the recommendation and that bids be caIled for
accord.lng to the specLfications as prepar"ed by the Purchasing
Agent, such bids to be opened at the regular meeting of the
Councll on June 5, 1950, -seconded by Councilman Hunt and
unanj:nously carried.
A letter dated Apr13. :28, 1950, was read. f?om I\1r. R. Wernlck,
Chairman of the Burllngane ^Committee, Helen Ga"hagan Douglas
for Senatorr- requesting permission to use the baseball d.iamond.ln Trlashington Park in the interest of }{rs. Douglast campaign.
Ucuncil:nan Slmonds moved that the reqrest be granted with the
provLsion that a letter is fl1ed f?om the Corunittee stating that
the City will not be hel-d LLable Ln ease of accld.ent or lnJury
and fu::ther, that assurance be gi.ven that any replacement
be made resulting from damage to Clty Park property. The .motlon
was seconded by Councllman Atwater and unanLmousLy carrled.
A letten d.ated Apni.l 28, 1950, was read fYom K. S. Fitch,
Direetor of Rrblic Tlorks, togethen with a surmary of major
contract construction'work proposed to be undertaken during thenext fiscal -year. fhe letter suggests that the office of Publl'e
lftIo:rks be instructed. to prep&re a [iemorandu-ur of Agreement wit]r
the Di.vision of Higf,rivays fo:: executlon. Council-uran Simonds
moved that the Director of Pub].lc T{orks be instructed toprepare a momorandum with the State for executLon of the wonk
so outlineii, seconded by Councilnran Byrd and unanimouslycarried.
A letter dated AprlL 28, L950, lras read from It. S. F5-tch,Dinector of Rrb1lc Ylo::ksr- rocommend.ing the repS-acement of thepnesent street roIler and that gas tax J\rnds be used for the
purchase of new equipment. L{ayon Love stated that the subject
vrould be held 1n abeyance and the Clty Engi-neer instructed toinvestigate the possibility of repalrlng the pnesent roLler.

ment in present salary schedules. Ltayor Love announced that
the Councll rvou].d meet with the Clvll ServLce Commission on
