comp€nsatlon for clty employees.
Counc llman Byrd, Chainman of the Cor:ncll Flnance Conmlttee, statedthat the proposeal classlficatlons and schedules of compensatlon had
been recommended by the Clvll Servlce Commisslon and acceptetl by theFlnance CormLttee .and based on the followlng facts: (a) cost of 11v-t nS; (U) partlculan senvicc to the Clty; and (c) comparlson wlthother conmnrnltles.
Councllman Love, Flnance Conmlttee member and Chal rrnan of the Pollce
Cornmlttee, stated that 1n the lnterest of a more efflclent openatlonof the Pollce Departrent, lt had been recommended that 1n addltlon tothe posltlon of the Chlef of the Pollce Departnent, a classlflcatlonfor. the posltlon of a Deputy Chlef and an Asslstant Chlef, be estab-llshed.
Councl,lman Roothr Flnance Comnlttee member and. Chai rnran of the FlreCorrnlttee, stated that a slml]ar reorgaDlzatlon was necoruaended forthe Ftre Departra nt end that Ln addltlon to the Chlef of the Fllle De-partment, there was now establl.shed a classlficatlon for posltlons ofFlrst Asslstant Flre Chlef and Second Asslstant Flne Chlef.
Councllman Byrd. concluded hls repont by statlng that the tltle of Fore-
man and Sub-Foreman had been ellminated ln preference to the tltle of
Super.vlsor and AssLstant SupervLso:: and that persormel ln the Waten,Streets and Sewers, and the Park Department s would be under the Jurls-dlctlon of the Dl:.ecto:r of Publlc Wonks.
