Ke1ly, 1301 Marlborough Road, Hillsboroughr p€tlred physiclanr who ad.dress-ed the Council on the subject of the San Franclsco water Departmenttslntention to place fluorides in the cltyts water supply. Drr Ke11yexpressed opposition to the proposed treatment based on facts detei-mined by Dr. Kel1y that such inorganlc fluridss are extremely toxic,tend to lower the mentallty, are harmful to the nervous system andcontrary to popular belief, ar6 not a protective measure agalnsttooth decay. Dr. Kelly, in summarizLng hls opinions, quoted. fromstatements made by well ronowned personages lndicatlng that 1t maybe a movement instlgated by the Soviet Unlon to retard the generalhealth and welfare of other countrles. A Letter dated January 51, 1955r wBS read from the Burli-ngame CttyPlanntng Connrnisslon, advislng that subsequent to a pubIlc hearlng,it was reeommended that all unclassified land within the corporafellmits of the City of Burllngame, lylng generally to the Easl of theBayshore Hlghway includlng the tldelands, be clabstfled as tn an Ni-1Dlstrlct. Councilman Rooth stated that the above mentioned unclas-slfted land 1s potentlally valuable property and therefore movedthat the Counei] concur wlth the recommendatlon of the Planning Com-missl-on, and that an Ordj-nance so affecting the zoning be prepired. The rnotion was seconded by Councilman Byrd and unanlmously canried. 2. A letter dated January 31, 1955, was read from the City Planning Commlssion advislng that a public hearing had been conducteci by the Commission on the Classlfication of Unclassified Lands ln the Cltyof Burllngame and lt was recommended that tI:e property within thePenlnsula l{ospital Distrlct, wlt}r a frontage of 639.53t on the South-westerly Ilne of El- Camino and adJacent to the llorthwesterly 1lne ofthe Ray Park Subdlvislon, and contalnlng 231267 acres of 1and, more r .)9ryt;r) I or l€ss, be classlfled as in I C-5 Dlstrlct. Councllman Rooth sug- gested the posslblllty that tho ownors of the property, the Ponin- sula Hospltal Dlstrlct may, at somo future date, dlspose of lts lands along the E1 Camlno Real thereby maklng such lands avallable to undeslrable zonlng. Subdivlslon be reclassifiodfron R-2 (Second Hesldontlal) to R-5, (fhira Iiesidentlal).
