Councilman Byrd expressed the opinion that definite plans to widon
Callforyria Drive appeared rrrenoterr but that the City of San Francisco
may, at some f\rture date, se11 the property to others who, in turn,
would erect a building and thus forco the Ctty to abanCon the parking
facilitl-es. Councllman Byrd urged that the subject be further ex-
pl ore d.
Granvl11e Brorvning, Executive Secretary of the Buriinga-me Chamber of
Comrnerce, advised that the Downt or'm Corunl ttee }.ad proposed the wlden-lng mainly to alleviate the heavy traffic and had recommended. that lt

Following further d.iscussion, the subJect matter was referred back tothe City lulanager for report to the Councll at a later dato.

II.: vember 16, L956, that Frank B. Blumr Attorney for the property ownersof 1E62-64 Rollins Road, has notified his office that the dsphalt strip
shal-1 be removed. as previously requested by the Council. The c ommun-icatlon r"Jas ord.ored. placed on file.
A comrm-rnicatlon dated November 76, 1956, was received. from the City
l,Ianager, advising tilat a eomparison of Burlingame I s salary scale re-
vealed that Burl inEarao compares favorably with citLes in Lts population
class and satisfactorlly with citles in its geographlcal area.
