Councilman Byrd su6qgested that the City l'lanager submit a detailed repont on the subJeet of a sales tax; lneludlng, the revenue to be der.lved, how it may be administe?ed, the penality if nay impose upon the cLtizens of Burlingame if adopted by the County, the benefitthe City may receive lf adopted prior to the adoption bir the County, trow many counties culrently have a sales tax, etc. Councllman Rooth also commented on the neces"ity to seek sor:rces of revenue other than that provided by taxation of property and obser.ved that the .rr""".r't "Unbudgeted Reserve Fund"'is inadequate should an emergency expenditure occur.. Couacilman Thayer stated that San l'lateo lounty is the only County in the State of California to date th:t has not e stablished a salestax.
