A communication from the city Manager, dated May 29, L964, advised that
the State Division of High\rays, upon receipt of advise from its
Sacramento Headquarters that any reference to the "regulation of
parking" be deleted from the currentagreement bet\,veen the State Highway
Division and the city, with respect to highway maintenance, has
requested a re-enactment of prior legislation.

3. PROPOSED ADDITION FTRE PREVENTTON CODE
A communication from the city !{anager, dated uay 29, 1964, advised
tiat the Fire chief has requested revisions in the Fire Prevention
Code to provide for the installation, maintenance and supervision
of fire protection facilities to insure an adequate water flotr upon
private property.
Ihe City Attorney was directed to prepare appropriate legislation for
council's consideration and action.

Councilman Johnson advised that a copy has been forwarded to the
Secretary of the Sister City Comnittee of Burlingame to be read atits regular meeting, June 10, and the Council advised thereafter whetherit would be more appropriate that the Committee or the Council replyto the communication.

Mayor !4artin advised that at a recent meeting of the San Mateo Countycouncil of Mayors, Assemblyman carl Britschgi. referrj-ng to recent
legislation permitting cities and counties to impose a "hotel occupancy
tax" stated that it was his understanding that Governor Brown haa
indi eated that his office may "pre-empt" a State "hotel-mote1 room
tax" and suggested that the cities take advantage of the 1963 enabling
IegisJ-ation by adopting a uniform ord.inance to permit the levying of
a hotel-moteJ. occupancy tax of 4% at i-he loca1 1eve1.
lhe subject was referred to Councilman George and to the City Manager
for evaluation and report to Council.
FI'RTIMR RETERENCE TO IIIAYORS T"IEETING
Mayor !{artin, reporting briefly on further discussion held by members
of the San Mateo County of lrlayors at a recent meeting, advised that
delegates from the southern section of the County have indicated
some objectj.on to the "North county council of cities" formation
and have suggested that the subject "Uniform Wage Stabilization" be
studied on a county-wide basis.

CIVIL DEFENSE DISASTER COIJNC TL REPORT
councilman ceorge, Council liaison to the San l{ateo County Civil
Defense and Disaster Organization, gave a report on his attendance
at a recent meeting, stating that plans are being .formulated for
an "aerial exercise" on \,rhich occasion siren tests sha11 be conducted
on a county-vride basis and outlining additional proposed plans to
be applied in instances of emergencies.
Councj.lman ceorge advised that a recent fallout "shelter" survey
indicated only a total of 675 spaces are presently avaiJ-abJ-e within
the City of Burlingame.
CONFERENCE RE: ROLLINS ROAD
Replying to an inquiry from Councilman Diederichsen, the city Manager
advised that his office shall confer with representatives of the
Public Utilities Commission, Monday, ,June 8, 1954, on the subjectof the Rollins Road area and a report sha1l be made to council-

LETTER TO HIGH SCI{OOL STUDENTS
Councilman Johnson suggested that a communication be forwarded to the
students of Burlingame High School expressing council appreciation
for the hospitality extended to Council at the luncheon on "Youthin Government Day. "
councilman Johnson complimented the Chaniber of Commerce on the successof the recent "Heritage Days" celebration and together with Councilman
Diederichsen, further complimented the Chamber of Commerce on the
occasion of the Annua], Community Dinner.
STUDY SESSIONS
