RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
ACCEPTING A HAZARDOUS FUELS REDUCTION GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA
DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY AND FIRE PROTECTION (CAL FIRE) IN THE AMOUNT
OF $140,000 AND APPROPRIATING IT IN THE STATE GRANTS SPECIAL REVENUE
FUND FOR THE PURCHASE OF A MASTICATOR
WHEREAS, the City has continued to reduce the fuel load in Mills Canyon to protect the
surrounding homes, and the City Council supports these efforts; and
WHEREAS, City staff applied for and received a grant from the California Department of
Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) in the amount of $140,000; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds will allow the City to purchase a forestry masticator to reduce
hazardous fuels; and
WHEREAS, the City funds will allow City staff to maintain and expand a fuel reduction buffer
zone from residences surrounding the Mills Canyon Wildlife Area.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BURLINGAME DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
1. The facts in the recitals above and in the staff report are true and correct.
2. The City Manager is authorized to sign the grant agreement, in the form attached hereto,
on behalf of the City of Burlingame, and the signature constitutes acceptance of the terms
and conditions of the grant agreement and approved execution of the grant.
3. The Parks and Recreation Department is authorized to execute the grant document as an
authorized representative of the City of Burlingame.
4. Appropriating $140,000 in the State Grants Special Revenue Fund for the purchase of a
masticator.

foregoing Resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the Burlingame City Council held on
the 15th day of August, 2022, and was adopted thereafter by the following vote :
