RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BURLINGAIIE APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR 220 PARK ROAD
TO BE INCLUDED IN THE BURLINGAME HISTORIC RESOURCES REGISTER AND
APPROVING AN APPLICATION TO CONDUGT EXTERIOR ALTERATIONS TO THE
HISTORIC RESOURCE AT 220 PARK ROAD,INCLUDING A DETERiIINATION OF
CONSISTENCYWITH THE SECRETARY OF INTERIOR'S STANDARDS
WHEREAS, on November 10, 2020,220 Park - Burlingame, LLC (Sares Regis / Dostart
Development Company) on behalf of the propefi owner, Burlingame park Squ-re [lc titeo an
application with the City of Burlingame Community Development Department - Planning Division
requesting approval of the following requests:
To include 22A Park Road in the Burlingame Historic Resources Register pursuant to
Burlingame Municipal Code Section 21,04,080(a); and
To conduct exterior alterations to a historic resource at 220 Park Road pursuant to
Burlingame Municipal Code 21.04.100, including a determination of consistency with the
Secretary of the lnterior's Standards.
WHEREAS, on November 23, 2020 the Historic Preservation Commission conducted a
duly noticed public hearing to review the requests for 220 Park Road to be included in the
Burlingame Historic Resources Register and to conduct exterior alterations to the historic
resource.
Following consideration of all information contained in the Page & Turnbull, Secretary of
the lnterior's Standards Analysis, dated November g, 2020 and the November 23, 2020 staff
report to the Historic Preservation Commission regarding the project, allwritten correspondence,
and all public comments received at the public hearing, the Historic preseruation Commission
grants approval of the request to place 220 Park Road on the Burlingame Historic Resources
Register and to conduct exterior alterations to the historic resource al 220 park Road per theplans dated stamped October 16, 2020, including a determination of consistency with the
secretary of the lnterior's strandards based on the following findings:

That the application has provided a historic analysis prepared by page & Turnbull, dated
November 9, 2020, detailing the eligibility of the subject property for both the National
Register of Historic Places (National Register) under Criterion A (Events) and Criteria C
(Architecture); that the Post Office building a|220 Park Road meets four of the criterion
for significance in that the structure has distinguishing characteristics of an architec*ural
style or period, that the structure exemplifies a particular architectural style or design
features, that the building is work of a notable architect, and that the building is of histoic
significance because it served as important cenler for political, social economic and

cultural activity. For these reasons, 220 ParlRoad is found to be eligible to be listed inthe Burlingame Historic Resources Register.

WHEREAS, said matters wer€ heard by the Historic Preservation Commission of the C1yof Burlingame on November 23. 2020, at which time it revieund and considered the staff report
and all other written materials and testimony presented at said hearing;
NOW, THEREFORE, tT IS RESOLVED AND DETERMTNED
PRESERVATION COMMISSION THAT:
BY THIS HISTORIC
Section 1. On the basis of the documents submitted and reviewed, and comments
received and addressed by thie Commission, it is hereby found that there is no substantialevidence that the approvals/project set forth above wil! have a significant effea on the
environment, per CEQA Section 15183, Consistency with the General plan and Downtown
Specific Plan, is hereby approved.
Section 2. Said request for inclusion on the City of Burlingame's Historic Resources
Register and to conduct exterior changes to the historic resource are approved subject to the
conditions set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto. Findings for such requests are set forth in thestaff report, minutes, and recording of said meeting.
Section 3. lt is further directed that a cerlified copy of this resolution be recorded inthe official records of the County of San Mateo.
