A regular meeting of the Burl inganre City Council was held on the
above given date. Meeting called to order at 8:15 p.m., - ayor
Crosby in the Chair.

the engineer's higher esti.[ate on Iten No. 13 (sub-base) based on
quotations received for the first phase of the Carolan Avenue Improve-
m6nt (AaseaBment District proceedinga) increasd the total esti.matedproject cost and that an addendun was furnished bidders notifiring allthat there nay be a delay of thirty days in starting the contract on
the southerly end of the project.
Ttre city Attorney advieed that in proceseing the Carolan Avenue IDprove-rent, it was neceaaary to acquire forty-eight and one-half, Bguare feet
of property at the corner of Park Avenue and carolan Avenue i a purdrase
price has been negotiated in the sum of $92.50 to be placed on depoait
with a title ineurance company.

ltayor crosby directed attention to the display of the Broadway overpass
nodel in the Council Chanbers and invited questions for referral to
llr. Eoward York, project engineer.
l,lr. York, in replying to inquiries, stated that nurDerous conferenc€a
have bcen held with hia ffum, the City Engineer and representativea
fron the state Division of Eighways; there are threc altcrnate
propoeale, eactr of which propoaes the eliuination of the grade crosaing
at Eroadhray and california Drivei several agenciee ehall allocate funds,
including the Public Utilities cmission, the southern Pacific C@pany,
the County of San l{ateo and the state Division of Eigheays and with
City cas Tax Donies, the cdbined funds shall finance the project.
The City Engineer advised that within a period of several weekg hia

to be fozvarded to the water Ouality Control Board.

Follming considerable discussion on the unfavoralrle poaition in whictr
the delay in report ing to the water Quality Control Board places the

that his office would request the Consulting Blgineer to e:<plain the
delay to the Control Board.
