AGREE!{ENT AUTflORIZIIG CIASSIFICATION SURVEY A memo fro the City ltanager, dated August 1, 1958, recmended that council, by motion, authorize the execution of an agreement with the California State PerEonnel Board for either 'survey PIan #l' callingfor an iruoed i ate classificatlon survey, with a salary survey at alater date, or "survey Plan #2"calling for a classification and salary Eurvey concurrently. RESTRICTIONS CELI EORNIA DRIVE BETWEEN TROU SDAI,E DRIVE AND MURCHI SON DRTVE A cmmunication frm the Parking Cmmission, dated July 26. L968. advised that consideration has been given to altering parkinglimitations on California Dri,ve between Trousdale Drive and Uurchison Drive on several occaaions with a recdmnendation that thewest side of California Drive between the aforenentioned streetabe converted to rfour-trour' parking areaa. 348 A recmendation that legislation be prepared waa concurred with by the City uanager in a memo dated Auguat 1, 1968, footnoted on the cmunication. fhe City Planner, in reply to an inquiry fro counci lman lilartin, atated that his Office initiated the study before the Parkingcmission and related circumEtances in the area that have created a difficult parking situation to thoee enplo,yed in nearby office buildings. tte city Planner further stated that the west side of CaliforniaDrive, limited to tt o-hour parking is unused and valueless inits present capacity and it was hie recqmendation that either a change to "four-hour' parking or "unlimited' parking would be beneficial. fhe City Attorney wag directed thereafter by Council to prepare legislation for council action, establishing a 'four-hour " parking limitation. 6. A memo frm the City litanager, dated Auguat I, 1968, referred to !n attached report frm tfie Police Department on a Etudy of trafficconditions in the area of the Broadway OverpaaB and to a chart.indicating traffic conditions with and without tolice direction. The report wag concluded with both the Chief of the Police Departnent and a Captain of the California Highway Patrol indicating thatlittle inproveroent, if any, can be gained to justify stationingfive officers to direct traffic at the aeveral intersections for afs hours during the day. Speaking on a personal. experience with respect to the new rap, Counci l$an ltartin reccrurended that the State be regueated to determine whether the traffic indicator is placed at the proper location. 349 9.
