Mr. willian H. Bazinett, in a conununication dated l,tay 20, 1969.
lhe cormunication set forth the character of the operation, the
improvements proposed and the qualifications of the applicants.
fhe Chair advi.sed the applicants, in attendance, that in cmpliancewith code requirements, the application will be first referred to
the Police, the Pire and the Health Departments for inspection andreport to Council.
4, UUNICIPAL FII.L EXCAVATION
A memo frora the city Manager, dated ll{,ay 29, 1969, referred to areport, including cost estimatea, received froro the city Engineer,
concerning excavating the dumpsite area and the disposal of
excavated material.
Council concurred urith the recmmendation frorn the Chair that the
subject be reviewed at the study meeting with a full Council present. -
ur. David Keyston interjected a suggestion that his cmpany may
perform the service more econottrically in exchange for Eeterial
excavated .
fhe City Engineer advised that the City can accotmodate aPProx-
imately 50,OOO cubic yards of material in areas of the Park site
and in building up the existing benns along the channel.
Further discussion concluded with ur. Keyston atating that he would
deliberate on a more definitive offer for report to Council.

2 CENSIJS REPORT
A report frqa the city Planner to ttte city uanager, dated May 23,
1969, advised that as the result of a recent census, the City's
current population is estinated at 26,680.
trhe city Planner, cormenting on the Loss in the estimate under
which the City receives various subventions, advised that the
State's estimating system is somewhat faulty and that extensive
changes in the current syntem are conternplated by the state Depart-
ment of Finance.
3. TELEPHOIIE INSTALLATIONS
fhe City llanager, in reply to an inguiry from the Chair, concerningthe installation of sidewalk telephones in do,rntorn businessdistricts, stated that a meeting has been scheduled wi-th merchants
and the telephone conpany representatives on June 3 and that a
report will be subrnitted to council at the June4 study meeting.
4. OFE' TREET PARI(ING COI'UITTEE
Councilman ceorge, Chairman, Council Parking committee, advised that
an initial meeting with Property G.rners Off Street Parking Corurdttee
disclosed a proposal to re-finance the current. Parking District, in
an estimated expeaditure of $25O,O0O.0O and that a further reportwill be submitted to council following a second meeting scheduled
on flresday, .7une 3 .
R'ADIO EQUIP}TENT PURCHASE
A memo from the City ttanager, dated M4y 29, 1969, advised that in
corpliance with a prior Council reguest, his investigation of a
purchase by the Fire Department for radio equipment rtas a budgeted
item and properly charged.
Counci lman ceorge, Council Budget Chairman, stated that his inquiryrelated to the possibility that the item may have qualified underthe terma of a "matching fund' allocation.

councilman George moved that a change in the extra work order bc
issued to ttre general contractor affecting the electrical wiringof the two flocculator drive unitss in the amount of $707.25. The
motion wag seconded by Councilman Anatrup and unanimously carried.

Brotherhood of Railr.ray, Airline and Steanship Clerka, dated
ltay 23, 1969, advised that the Southern Pacific Cmpany hag
informed ttre Public Utilities Couoission of intention to closeits Burlingame agencL at 2:3O p.m. each day and all day on
Saturdays and Sundays and urged that the City Council protect ttre
convenience of the citizens by protesting to the utilities Comis-
sion.
Ihe Comnittec further urged that public hearings be requested to
i.nvestigate all the factsi that if no action is forthcqning, the
new hours will be placed into effect on ilune L2. L969.
Trhe City Attorney, in response to the Chair, advised of hisunfaniliarity with Public Utilities Cotmission procedure, statingthat if a public hearing li schedulcd, horever, the City should bc

Mr. David Keyston advieed that he had been approached to oppoaethe cloeing of the depot and that it waa his understanding thatthe action waE propoEed bccause of the considerable reduction inrail travel particularly when the Southern Pacific Cmpany's

5. Cq,NTY DEVEIOPMENT ASSOCIA?ION
Ii{ayor }tartin announced that he would accept the appointment as the
representative of the City on the Board of the San llateo County
Development Association, Inc.
Council unaninously endorsed the appointnent.
ABAG IIEETING
t{ayor uartin stated that due to conflicting cmnitncnts, he would
be unable to attend the next scheduled neeting of ABAG and rrould
assumc that councilman Anstrup, his alternate, would represent thecity.
Refeffing briefly to SB 711 (Knox) litayor Uartin advised that he
would surmarize the proposed measure at the l{edneaday evening
study meeting.
