CALL TO ORDER The duly noticed regular meeting of the Burlingame Parks & Recreation Commission was called to order by Chair Ardito at 7:03 pm via Zoom meeting. 2. ROLL CALL COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Milne, Ardito, Chang, Pappajohn, Holzman & Lee COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Matthews STAFF PRESENT: Parks & Recreation Director Glomstad, Recreation Manager Acquisti, Recreation Coordinator Sanchez, Parks Supervisor Holtz & Recording Secretary Helley OTHERS PRESENT: Doug Flander 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Holzman noted her name was listed under Item 6a. in the last line before the motion. She was not at the meeting. Commissioner Holzman made a motion to approve the amended August minutes. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Pappajohn and was approved as corrected. 6-0 (Matthews absent). 4. Field Validations for Burlingame High School, Burlingame Youth Baseball Association, and Mercy High School Recreation Coordinator Sanchez provided background on the Field User Policy and the purpose of validation for users. Per the Field User Policy (Exhibit A), the Parks & Recreation Commission validates Field User Organizations before requesting field space as a validated organization for the Parks & Recreation Commission APPROVED Minutes September 16, 2021 seasonal sports leagues and tournaments. Organizations requesting to be categorized as a Validated User Organization must meet the Commission approved criteria to request priority field space for youth sports fields in Burlingame. Organizations can be approved as a Tier 1 or Tier 2 validated user organization and, if the organization doesn't meet the criteria, they become a field rental. Commissioner Lee made a motion to approve BHS, Mercy, and BYBA as Tier I Validated User organizations. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Milne and was approved. 6-0 (Matthews absent). 8. STAFF AND COMMISSIONER REPORTS a) Parks & Recreation Department Reports Director Glomstad reported the deadline for commission applications is Friday, September 17. Recreation Coordinator Chris Roman has accepted a position with Los Gatos/Saratoga Recreation Department. The City will be hiring a full-time coordinator in the near future to fill his position. She also reported that there would be tours of the new Community Center for potential donors. Recreation Manager Acquisti noted upcoming events, including the Family Camp Out and the Burlingame Muddy Mile. She also reported that after -school enrichment and after -school sports started on Monday and are off to a great start. The Department has hired a full-time Recreation Coordinator, Kylie Crandall, to oversee onsite classes and youth sports programs. Since the last Commission meeting, Pickleball lines have been added to Washington Park Tennis Court land the response has been overwhelmingly positive. b) Commissioners Reports Commissioner Pappajohn — No report Commissioner Holzman — Holzman reported the Capital Campaign is looking to have volunteers work at special events to spread the word about donation opportunities. Contact her if you would like to volunteer or have friends that may be interested in volunteering. Commissioner Milne — No report Commissioner Lee — Lee noted opportunities to donate to the Capital Campaign for the new community center - https://burlingamecommunitycenteLgrg/. Lee said that she would continue to work on City issues, in particular senior matters. Commissioner Chang — No report Commissioner Ardito — Ardito reported hearing good buzz from the parents regarding the after - school sports program. 9. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS 10.
