RESOLUTION NO.084-2021
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH
WEST COAST ARBORISTS, INC. FOR TREE PRUNING AND STUMP REMOVAL
SERVICES, CITY PROJECT #85450 AND APPROVING AN ADJUSTMENT TO THE
FISCAL YEAR 2021-22 BUDGET
WHEREAS, the City Council approved funds in the FY 2021-22 operating budget for tree
pruning/removal and tree stump removal; and
WHEREAS, City staff released a Request for Proposals (RFP) regarding these services on
May 13, 2021, and on May 20, 2021, the following companies attended a pre -proposal meeting:
West Coast Arborists, Inc., Davey Tree, Bay Area Tree Specialists, and Professional Tree Care;
and
WHEREAS, on .tune 3, 2021, proposals were received, evaluated, and ranked based on
the selection criteria listed in the RFP; and
WHEREAS, West Coast Arborists, Inc. submitted the most qualified proposal in the
amount of $1,176,335, and up to an additional $100,000 for other services and emergency work at
a cost specified in the proposal as needed; and
WHEREAS, the contract will require an estimated $376,000 over the amount included in
the 2021-22 budget for these services; and
WHEREAS, the City of Burlingame has taken the necessary steps to authorize the above -
detailed work under the terms of the RFP documents, and the City reserves the right to award and
shall award only those portions of the proposal items for which the City has funding.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
1. The proposal of West Coast Arborists, Inc. is determined to be the best -qualified
proposal for the tree pruning and stump removal contract, and it is accepted.
2. The City Manager is authorized to execute an agreement with the most qualified
company, West Coast Arborists, Inc., for the performance of the work, in the form attached to this
resolution.
3. The City Finance Director & Treasurer is authorized to amend the current Fiscal Year
2021-22 Budget by an additional $376,000 in the Parks Division operating budget to provide
funding for the estimated cost to be incurred for these services in the first year of the contract.
