INN CROWNE PLAZA HOTEL - 600 AIRPORT BOULEVARD
City Planner reviewed her memorandum of Jnne 27 in which she recom-
mended council hold public hearing and make a determination. She
reviewed Pfanning Commission conditions on the approval of this sign
exception: (1) that conditions of the City Engineer's memo of May 9
be met; (2) that the facade of the building not be lit at night; and
(3) that luhe 725 square foot sign on the bay frontage be removed from
the sign exception request. The City Engineer's conditions limit
on-site directional- signs to three feet in height and length. Pl-anning

proportion to the size of the buililing; the project needs identification
ardvisibility; and the placement and l-ocation of the buj-Iding creates
a need for more signage.
Council discussed with City Planner the percentage of coverage for
signs; the location of driveway signs; the way signs will be illumi-
natedi and comparison with other signs in the immediate area.
