Coach Don Peter accepLed the proclanation. PUBLIC HEARING REVENUE SHARING Mayor Barton opened the public hearing to groups requesting Revenue Sharing f unds. David Korth, Easter Seal Society, requested $2,000. John Hooper, Cal1 Primrose, requested $1,000, Johanna Foster, San Mateo Womens Shelter' requested $1r000. Rosalie OiMahony, Suicide Prevention, requested $1'500.Shirley Moore, Project Reach, request.ed $5,000. Loj-s Watson, Burlingame Elenentary Schools, requested $1r260. Councilman Lembi suggested opening a 30 day application period fo Traffic Conmission vacancy. the Mayor Barton put over this issue of discussing interview teams and setting interview dates to order to have a full council present. changing the next council meeting 1n RENT CONTROL Council accepted a report from the City Attorney and the City Manager summarizing the new rent conErol initiative and the possible costs of such a program in the city. FEE COLLECTION IN LONG TERM PARKING LOTS Councilman Pagliaro said he was amazed at this recommendation, he envj-sioned many administrative problems and felt the parking prob could be more easily solved with ticket machines or meters. Mayor Barton said they should be using short term lots, not long term parking; shealso noted that there would be problems if they bought a pernit for $30 per month and then returned to lot to find no parking spaceavailable, paying for a permit is not reserving a spot. Chief of Police mentioned the administrative difficulty of selJ.ing monthly permi-ts; would be less complicated to sell three monthpermits, but many people wouLd not want to pay that nuch at one time; city had this experience with the telephone company employees; it would cost $100,000 to meter these lots with long term meters. to research further and bring back a report on Mayor Barton asked counci.l to take a stand supporting expansion of the 0x Mountain 1andfi11. Council agreed. Councilman Lembi wondered what the Army Corps of Engineers has to with this 1andfil1. The progran is scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday luncheons with approxinately 70 people being served. The net cost to the city will be $4,153. Councilman Lembi moved approval of the Consent Calendar. Seconded by Councilman Pagliaro, carried unanimously by voice vote. City Manager reviewed the Board of Supervisors has approved one ba11ot issue regarding the half cent tax for transportation. Councilman Pagliaro noted he had attended most of these meetings as had other council members, at l"east one of our council was present at all theneetings. He requested this matter be on the next agenda in order for council to demonstrate to MTC our position before their hearings. Healso requested that staff get the final SMCTAC proposaL before that meeting if possible. Council concurred. Councilnan Pagliaro also requested that consideration of an engineering study for a parking structure be placed on our next agenda. City Manager noEed he would present several options for council consideration at that tine. Council concurred. MOS UITO ABATEMENT LETTER Mayor Barton noted another letter regarding mosquito problems in a drainage ditch near RolL j.ns Road. Director of Public Works said theditch was recently cleared of weeds and should no longer be a problem. Mayor Barton complimented the Police Department on pronpt action regarding Burger King. Mayor Barton schedul-ed appeal hearings for June 15 meeting for 926 Chula Vista garage, ar.d 723 California Drive restaurant.
