Williams Recreation Director SUBJECT: Cancellation of Scheduled Park and Recreation Commnission Meeting - March 21, 1996 As a result of a Commission vacancy and two Commissioners being called out of town on business unexpectedly, the Park and Recreation Commission could not raise a quorum and the March 21 meeting of the Commission was cancelled. The three Commissioners, two Youth Advisory Commissioners and staff who were present did view a video prepared by the League of California Cities entitled "The Cost of Denial." The video discusses youth violence, its high cost to our society, and some programs underway in several California cities to provide programs for kids. The video is about 20 minutes. Commissioners present asked that City Council members be given the opportunity to view the video at a meeting in the near future. I will be happy to assist with scheduling the viewing of the video, if the City Council wishes to see it. cc: Park and Recreation Commissioners Burlingame Recreation Department MEMORANDUM March 18, 1996 TO: City Council Beautification Commission Park & Recreation Commission Senior Commission ,X vpjv FROM: John Willia: Recreation SUBJECT: Burlingame Park & Recreation Award Winners -Informational Memo The annual California Parks and Recreation Society, District IV, Volunteer Recognition and Professional Awards Program was held on February 29, 1996 in South San Francisco.
