maintenance work is now going. During the winter storms to date the City has been
fortunate in that no major tree or facility damage has occurred. Williams also reported on
the status of the landfill park improvements and reviewed the status of the five playground
tot lot renovations --Alpine and Paloma are completed; J Lot and Laguna are planned for
Spring, 1999; and the Trenton rehabilitation will be in the 1999-2000 budget.
3. Recreation Division Report. Recreation Superintendent Schwartz highlighted the youth
basketball program which is now underway, as well as the very successful City Holiday
Tree Lighting program and the Burlingame Avenue Merchants Holiday Faire. He also
updated the group on the status of the Burlingame Village Park building improvements.
4. Commissioner Reports.
A. Commissioner Larios reported on recent problems with the running track security
lights. The project contractor is presently working on the problem.
B. Commissioner Minderman asked about the location of City parks. Superintendent
Schwartz gave Minderman and the rest of the Commissioners copies of the new
Recreation Brochure, which includes descriptions and addresses of all City parks.
C. Commissioner Piccetti asked about the status of removal of the Cuernavaca Park
picnic structure. Williams reported that Public Works engineering staff has required
the installation of a new retaining wall at the location of the shade structure back
wall in order to prevent earth slippage from Hunt Drive. The removal project will
now occur following the rainy season.

City's Tree Lighting program. Others expressed their appreciation for the high
