December 2, 1982
The regularly scheduled Burlingame Beautification Commission meet -
was called to order Thursday, November 4, 1982, at 7:30 PM in the
City Hall by Chairman Bowling.
ROLL CALL
Present: Chairman Bowling, Commissioners Bacon, Carbon, Hagstrom,
and Asst. Director Langevin.
Absent: Commissioners Levy, Disco, and Director Quadri (excused).
Guests: De Anne Georgakas, Teresa Levaggi, and Steve McMichael,
(Capuchino High School students).
MINUTES
The minutes of the November 4, 1982 meeting were approved as sub-
mitted.
CORRESPONDENCE
Minutes of the November 10, 1982 Regional Planning Committee/Lit-
ter Control Advisory Committee with accompanying meeting notice
and agenda for the December 8, 1982 meeting.
REPORTS
Commissioner Bacon
Enjoyed Luana Hammett's presentation on the Shorebird Sanctuary at
the November 4, 1982 commission meeting, and would encourage the
commission to have more informative presentations in the future.
Commissioner Hagstrom
Area along RR tracks,between Millbrae Avenue and Broadway, is
being used as a dumping area. Chairman Bowling suggested that
Director Quadri investigate.
Commissioner Perry
Area in front of Burlingame Medical Bldg. collects trash along
fence area. Commissioner Hagstrom moved that a letter from the
Commission be directed to the Council requesting 2 or 3 recepti-
cals be placed in front of the Burlingame Medical Bldg. by the
city. Commissioner Perry seconded and the motion was carried by
a unanimous vote. Chairman Bowling requested that Director Quadri
draft a letter to Council for his signature.
Taylor Intermediate won the November Clean Campus inspection.
Commissioner Carbon
Very impressed with Luana Hammett's presentation.
Asst. Director Langevin
Asst. Director Langevin reported on the loss of trees during the
November 30th storm.
The Spring Garden Seminar has been scheduled for March 5, 1983,
9:00 AM at the Recreation Center. Commissioner Hagstrom suggested
that we cooperate with the Millbrae Beautification Commission.
The department is finalizing the ECR Beautification plans and plant
materials. Other cities are being investigated for existing plant
materials.
Fragrance Garden - locating "fragrance value" in plants is diffi-
cult. 35-40 plants are useful for the garden and plans to ini-
tiate them into the garden are underway.
NEW BUSINESS
Commissioner Carbon suggested that trees on Broadway be considered
for the Arbor Day tree planting celebration.
Commissioners dialoged with the visitors re beautification sugges-
tions of schools and other areas.
Meeting was adjourned by Chairman Bowling at 8:10 PM.
