September 2, 1982
The regularly scheduled Burlingame Beautification Commission meet-
ing was called to order Thursday, September 2, 1982, at 7:30 PM
in the City Hall by Chairman Bowling.
ROLL CALL
Present: Chairman Bowling, Commissioners Carbon, Hag'strom, Levy,
Perry, and Director Quadri.
Absent: Commissioner. Bacon (excused)
Commissioner Disco (absent)
MINUTES
The minutes of the August 5, 1982 meeting were approved as submitted.
CORRESPONDENCE
Letter from Henrietta Wise re donation from herself and Dr. and
Mrs. Robert J. Stein, in memory of Dr. Howard I. Gallagher, for
the Helen D'Arcy Fragrance Garden.
Copies of letter from Director Quadri thanking Henrietta Wise and
Dr. and Mrs. Robert J. Stein for their donations to the Helen D'
Arcy Fragrance Garden.
REPORTS
Commissioner Hagstrom
Millbrae Beautification Commissioners Nancy Weber and Anne Kirkbride
will serve with Burlingame Commissioners Nita Perry and Allen Levy
on the Clean Campus Committee. Committee will meet on September 23
for their first inspection at Burlingame Intermediate. Plans are
being made for the Lion's Club from Burlingame and Millbrae to pro-
vide a perpetual trophy and/or flag for the winners. Commissioner
Bowling thanked Mildred Hagstrom and Allen Levy for their service on
the Clean Campus Committee last year.
mmissioner Carbon
The area between Murchison and Adeline is very messy. Director
Quadri reported that Burlingame's summer crews cleaned up the City's
property but that the other area was the responsibility of Cal -Trans.
Commissioner Carbon also reported that the sidewalk areas of Broad-
way have litter and trash. Director Quadri will discuss this matter
with the Public Works department and attempt to involve area mer-
chants in solving it. He also will express to the Police Department
the concern of the Commission re enforcement of parking ordinances
to enable street cleaners access to the area.
OLD BUSINESS
1982 Landscape Award - The patio area of Horn Realty, 405 Primrose
Road was voted the best landscaped commercial property in Burlin-
game. Award will be presented at the Burlingame Community dinner.
Commissioner Hagstrom requested further information on the tree
program sponsored by the Saratoga Horticultural Foundation, i.e.,
how many trees will be used in the El Camino Beautification pro-
ject, when will the planting begin, etc. Director Quadri will
contact Barry Coate of the Foundation for further information.
Meeting was adjourned by Chairman Bowling at 8:30 PM.
