The regularly scheduled Burlingame Beautification Commission meeting
was called to order by Chairman Bowling Thursday, January 7, 1982,
at 7:35 p.m. in the City Hall.

Present: Commissioners Bowling, Bacon, Carbon, Disco, Hagstrom, Levy,
and Park Director Quadri.
Absent: Commissioner Perry (excused)
MINUTES
Minutes of the December 3, 19$1 meeting were approved as submitted.
CORRESPONDENCE
Meeting notice for the Regional Planning Committee Litter Advisory Com-
mission on Wednesday, December 9, at 7:00 P.M., with attached member-
ship roster.
Facility Usage Contract for the Spring Garden Seminar on March 6, 1982
at the Burlingame Rec Center.
Commission Candidate Information form on appointment of new Beautifica-
tion Commissioner, Arthur F. Carbon.
Copy of letter from Director Quadri to Arthur F. Carbon congratulating
him on his new appointment and informing him of commission meeting dates.
Copy of letter to City of Millbrae Beautification Commission from Direc-
tor Quadri inviting 1 of their commissioners to act as judge for the
"Clean Campus Contest". 12/22/81.
REPORTS
Chairman Bowlin
The new Beautification Commissioner, Arthur Carbon, was welcomed to the
commission.
Negatives of the Mills Canyon Wildflower planting were sent by Willa
Sexton. The negatives will be developed and put in the Beautification
Commission scrapbook.
The donation from the Garden Study Club to purchase the wildflower seed
for Mills Canyon is forthcoming.
Commissioner Disco
The Ray Park Homeowner's Association claims no responsibility for the
bus stop on El Camino across from Peninsula Hospital.
Commissioner Hagstrom
Commissioner Hagstrom requested that efforts continue to find a way to
improve the North entrance to Burlingame on E1 Camino. Director
Quadri indicated this would be an expensive project, and Cal Trans
doesn't seem to be interested. Gas tax money can be used, but this
may not be a high priority item. It could also be budgeted as a capi-
tal program. The commission requested that Director Quadri bring
sketches of ideas done by John Hoffman to the next meeting and to pur-
sue funding possibilities.

Commissioner badges have been ordered by the City Clerk's office but
have not yet arrived.
John Wilms, Chairman of the Millbrae Beautification Commission was sent
a letter by Director Quadri inviting that commission to participate in
the Clean Campus Contest. The Millbrae commission has appointed 2 mem-
bers; Ann Kirkbride and Karen Brown. They have contacted Mrs. Vote,
Principal of Taylor Intermediate School. Mildred Hagstrom and Allen
Levy will be the appointees from the Burlingame commission. Commis-
sioners Hagstrom and Levy will meet with Millbrae commissioners
Kirkbride and Brown to work out details. Chairman Bowling indicated
he would contact the principal at Burlingame Intermediate School.
OLD BUSINESS
The Landscape Award will be presented to Anco Properties at the Chamber
of Commerce general meeting in April, 1982, as there will be no January
general meeting. Anco Properties will be notified of the exact time and
date.
The Rec Center has been reserved for the Spring Garden Seminar on March
6, 1982. Director Quadri has spoken to Alex Graham, Horticulturist at
College of San Mateo, as a possible speaker for the seminar.
Arbor Day Observance will be Monday, March 8, 1982. Chairman Bowling re-
quested Director Quadri to send a letter to the Garden Study Club request-
ing funds for purchasing the California Live Oaks to be planted on Arbor
Day.
Petitions for the Can and Bottle Bill were given to interested commis-
sioners by Commissioner Hagstrom.
NEW BUSINESS
Commissioner Levy pointed out two corrections on the updated Commissioners
Roster. Chairman 8owling's telephone number should read 343-0654 and
Commissioner Levy's telephone number should read 697-0617.
Director Quadri gave a brief report on the damage to the city trees dur-
ing the storm.
Meeting was adjourned by Chairman Bowling at 8:17 P.M.
