ROLL CALL Present: Chairman Bowling, Commissioners Bacon, Carbon, Disco, Hagstrom, Perry, and Director Quadri. Absent: Commissioner Levy (excused) Guest: Mrs. Luana Hammett MINUTES The minutes of the October 7, 1982 meeting were approved as sub- mitted. CORRESPONDENCE Letter from Lawrence J. Horn, of Henry Horn & Sons, thanking the Beautification Commission for the 1982 Landscape Award. Letter from the Pacific Management Group announcing a one -day seminar on BECOMING A MORE EFFECTIVE COMMISSIONER OR PUBLIC BOARD MEMBER. Agenda for the November 10, 1982 Regional Planning Committee/Litter Control Advisory Committee with accompanying announcement of Paid Coordinators Needed for the Third Great California Resource Rally in 1983. REPORTS Commissioner Disco Commissioner Disco received a letter from the City of Burlingame confirming her appointment to a second 3 year term on the Burlin- game Beautification Commission. Commissioner Perry The Clean Campus inspection for October was awarded to Burlingame Intermediate. Chairman Bowlin Chairman Bowling also received a letter from the City of Burlingame confirming his appointment to a second 3 year term on the Burlin- game Beautification Commission. �' 1 I-) Director Quadri Cal Trans removed a Eucalyptus tree at 1227 E1 Camino. Hazardous root structure made removal necessary. The Chamber of Commerce is agreeable to including a letter to mer- chants re keeping sidewalks clean,in one of their monthly bulletins. Director Quadri surveyed the trash recepticals in the business dis- Iricts. Aside from those on Burlingame Avenue, there were 7 on Broadway and a dozen at the Plaza. The containers on Burlingame Avenue and Broadway were placed as part of beautification projects and are serviced by the Public Works Department. Those at the Plaza are privately owned and serviced. The placing of additional recepticals on Broadway will be discussed with the Public Works Department. The preliminary plans for the E1 Camino Real Beautification & the Fragrance Garden expansion were on display for the commission. Arbor Da will be celebrated on March 7 1983 and the S rin Gar- en eminar will be Saturda , March 5, 1983. Announcements will e included in the spring issue of the recreation booklet. NEW BUSINESS Luana Hammett shared with the commission, the history of the Shore- ird Sanctuary and some interesting information on the marshlands and the shorebirds that migrate there.
