We then issue these fields to AYSO in the Fall where they play 907. of their community soccer program for the youth of Burlingame. In the Spring, two of the three fields are issued to Little League and Bobby Sox for practice facilities for their baseball and softball programs. These fields are extremely important to our community sports programs and it would be an extreme hardship if we ever lost the use of these fac- ilities. Of the three fields, the main football field is re -seeded every year, since it is the official district football field. The other two fields are in very poor condition and are re -seeded every four or five years. Since the heavy use our community sports programs place on the fields, we are major contributors to their poor condition. I would like to suggest that the City of Burlingame pay to have two fields (girls hockey field and practice football field) renovated and re- seeded during the first week of June, 1984. I discussed this proposal with Rich Quadri, and he feels that both fields can be renovated for less than $2.9000. . Peter Haugen, 1984 Commissioner for -the Burlingame AYSO is willing to commit $600 toward this project if the City will fund the balance. Peter acknowledges that AYSO is the prime recipient of our contract with Burl- ingame High School. If the project is approved, the high school will be responsible for marking and roping off the fields so people will stay off until grass is ready for play:: RW:pa cc: Rich Quadri I-) N%.. 850 Burlingame Avenue Burlingame, California 94010 Phone 344.6386 November 26, 1984 Mr. Dave Fields, Vice Principal Burlingame High School Carolan & Oak Grove Avenues Burlingame, Ca. 94010 Dear Dave: The Burlingame City Council, at their November 19, 1984 meeting, approved my request for funds to re -seed and renovate the girls hockey field and the practice football field in June, 1985. (See request attached). Rich Quadri, Parks Director will be in charge of making arrangements for the work project, and as of now, I would assume that the project will be contracted out. Per discussions with Sharon Heffernan and with a desire to re -seed as early as possible for successful germination, we have scheduled the project for June 3-7. As mentioned in my memo, the Burlingame AYSO program will donate $600 towards this needed project and the high school district will be responsible for roping off the fields when the project is corrpleted. Together we can have three fields in good condition by the 1985 Fall. If you have any questions in regards to the project, I suggest you contact Rich Quadri at the Burlingame City Hall (342-8931, ext. 20). Thank you for your continual cooperation. Our reciprocity works to benefit the community and both our programs. Sincerely, Ray-Nagr Director of Recreation RW:pa cc: Rich Quadri, Parks Director Sharon Heffernan, Athletic Director-B.H.S.
