Speakers may address the Commission concerning any matter over which the Commission has
jurisdiction or of which it may take cognizance that is not on the agenda. Additional public comments
on agenda action items will be heard when the Commission takes up those items. The Ralph M. Brown
Act (the State local agency open meeting law) prohibits the Commission from acting on any matter that
is not on the agenda. Speakers are asked to fill out a "request to speak" card located on the table by
the door and hand it to staff, although provision of name, address or other identifying information is
optional. Speakers are limited to three minutes each, although the Commission may adjust the time
limit in light of the number of anticipated speakers.

Draft Minutes August 1, 2019
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Beautification Commission was called to order at 6:30 pm by
Commission Kearney.
ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioners Kearney, Hinckle, Hunt and Dinuri
Absent: Commissioner Kirchner
Staff. Parks and Recreation Director Glomstad
Others: Mayor Colson
MINUTES
Commissioner Hinckle made a motion to approve the June 6, 2019 minutes. The motion was seconded by
Commissioner Dinuri and was approved 4-0-1 (Kirchner absent).

OLD BUSINESS
1. Business Landscape Award - Vote
The Commissioners discussed the nominations for the Business Landscape Award. Commissioner
Dinuri recommended the Commissioners look at adding an additional award, one for the commercial
area and one for the industrial area. Commissioner Kearney stated she prefers the award stay as one
award. Commissioner Dinuri noted next year she would like to look in the industrial areas or the
Bayfront for nominees.
Public Comment
Mayor Colson commented that the industrial area on Rollins Road maybe rezoned in the future and it
is important for business owners to keep their businesses landscaped and clean.
Commissioner Kearney made a motion to nominate the Burlingame Women's Club at 241 Park Road
as the 2019 Business Landscape Award winner. It was seconded by Commissioner Hunt and was
approved 3 -1 -1 (Kirchner absent).
2. Residential Sustainable Landscape - Vote
Director Glomstad read the general goals of the Award to the Commissioners. The Commissioners
discussed the nominations for the Residential Sustainable Landscape Award. Commissioner Dinuri
stated she would like to look at multi -unit housing next year as possible nominees for the award.
Public Comment
Mayor Colson inquired if multi -unit housing is considered for this award. Commissioner Kearney
stated it was, all residential properties are eligible.
Commissioner Kearney moved to nominate 792 Willborough Road as the 2019 Residential Sustainable
Landscape Award winner. It was seconded by Commissioner Dinuri and was approved 3 -1 -1 (Kirchner
absent).
3. Commissioner Report on Solar Panels and Trees
Commissioner Dinuri reported that she and Commissioner Kirchner have met and have put together
some broad recommendations that will be presented to the Commissioners at the next meeting for
discussion and input.
4. Commissioner Discussion on Updating the Description of the Beautification Commission on the
Webpage
Commissioner Hinkle suggested some grammatical changes. Director Glomstad stated that the
document will be proofed before it is posted on the webpage. The Commissioners were satisfied with
the content.

Commissioner Dinuri inquired if the City had a table at Burlingame on the Avenue. Director Glomstad
stated that there will be an information booth at the event. Commissioner Dinuri stated she will be
attend the event and will take a shift in the booth. Secretary Borba will have a badge made for
Commissioner Dinuri and provide a Commissioner shirt.
The next Beautification Commission meeting is September 5, 2019. There being no further business, the
meeting adjourned at 7:23 pm.
