Approved Minutes May 7, 2020
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Beautification Commission was called to order via Zoom at 6:30
pm by Commissioner Kearney.
ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioners Kirchner, Kearney, Hunt, Dinuri and Bauer
Absent: None
Staff. Parks and Recreation Director Glomstad, City Arborist/Parks Superintendent Disco and
Recording Secretary Borba
Others: None
MINUTES
Commissioner Kearney made a motion to approve the February 6, 2020 minutes. The motion was
seconded by Commissioner Hunt and was approved 5-0.

OLD BUSINESS
1. Business Landscape Award Update
Director Glomstad inquired if the Commissioners want to move forward with the Business Landscape
Award this year due to COVID 19. After the Commissioners discussed the pros and cons of giving
out the award this year, Commissioner Hunt moved that the Business Landscape Award be postponed
for 2020. The motion passed 3 (Kearney, Hunt, and Bauer) to 2 (Dinuri and Kirchner).
2. Residential Sustainable Landscape Award Update
Director Glomstad inquired if the Commissioners want to move forward with the Residential
Sustainable Landscape Award this year due to COVID 19. After the Commissioners discussed the
pros and cons of giving out the award this year, Commissioner Hunt moved that the Residential
Sustainable Landscape Award be postponed for 2020. The motion passed 3 (Kearney, Hunt, and
Bauer) to 2 (Dinuri and Kirchner).
NEW BUSINESS
1. Parks and Recreation Department COVID 19 Update
Director Glomstad reported the parks remain open during COVID 19. As restrictions lessen, more
park amenities will open, and park signage will be updated. Per the current Health Order, if you are
walking in the park, you will not be required to wear a mask but will need to stay 6 feet apart. City
offices remain closed with limited access. Full-time City staff can use accrued time off and stay
home or work from home or the office. There is no part-time staff working at this time.
REPORTS
1. Director Glomstad
Director Glomstad stated there are two construction projects, Murray Field Natural Play, that is
recently completed and Skyline Park, which has resumed work.
The Recreation Division is offering limited summer programing. Music in the Park, the Family
Camp Out, and the Muddy Mile have been cancelled.
The Construction fencing will be going up around Recreation Center, and all the power has been shut
off to the building.
2. Parks Superintendent/City Arborist
City Arborist Disco reported the April tree planting has been postponed until October/November.

5. Commissioner Kirchner
Commissioner Kirchner asked if tree removal permits are being entertained. Director Glomstad
stated the Parks office is back on track and issuing permits.

The next Beautification Commission meeting is June 4, 2020. There being no further business, the
meeting adjourned at 7:06 pm.
