To Whom It May Concern,
Recently I contacted the City Of Burlingame Beautification Depart-
ment concerning a problem I have with a certain Coral Tree which is on
my property. The Person I spoke with informed me that the tree in ques-
tion is a preserved tree under the Burlingame Heritage Act and that cer-
taiit procedures would 'nave to be followed in order to remedy the situa-
tion.
Te__prRblem with the tree is that it is growing into the founda-
tion of my liouse, causing considerable damage. When I first bought the
property, there was no noticeable damage. Recently, however, I have
.noticed that there has been a considerable up -lifting of the right
front portion of my house due to maturation of the tree. Apparently
the roots of the tree are the source of the problem. Some of the prob-
lems I have encountered are; damage to the foundation, cracks in the
interior walls, distortion of the window frames making the windows
virtually impossible to open, and there is some question as to whether
or not the presence of the tree would inhibit the value of my property
if I were to attempt to resell it.
In light of the amount of damages to my house, the cost of repair,
and any prospective damages if nothing is done to remedy this situa-
tion, I respectfully request a permit to remove the tree in question.
Although the tree certainly is a beautiful tree, and is admired
and appreciated by the residents of the block, the detriments to me
and my property certainly outweigh any benefits received by leaving
the tree there. If there are any possible alternatives to the complete
removal of the tree, I'm sure that we can arrive at a reasonable
solution. Your immediate attention to .this problem would be greatly
appreciated.
Respectfully Yours,
 j Alan C. Kazarian/
