The regularly scheduled meeting of the Beautification Commission was called to
order on Thursday, January 2, 1986 at 5:35 P.M. in the City Hall by Chairman
L- Carbon.
ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioners Bowling, Cady, Carbon, and Shevchuk.
Absent: Commissioners Disco, Gilmore, Hagstrom.

Minutes of the November 7, 1985 meeting were approved as submitted.
CORRESPONDENCE
October - Letter to Mr. John Raiser of Raiser Development Company congratulat-
n_company for receiving the 1985 Beautification Award for the SEABREEZE
I, at 700 Airport Blvd.
November - Letters to Chester Bowling and Mildred Disco thanking them for their
service to the City on the Beautification Commission.
Letters to Chester Bowling and Mildred Disco requesting they con-
tinue serving for another few months while new commissioners are being selected.
December - Spring Garden Seminar announcement (to be placed in Spring Rec Bro-
chure).
REPORTS
� R I As of January 2, 1986 the Park Department has completed the conversion from the
manual street tree request to the computer street tree request.
Steven Porter has been hired as Tree Trimmer Leadworker. Mr. Porter has worked
with the City of South San Francisco and Mayne Tree and comes well qualified.
Arbor Da g p y planting will take lace on March f, 1986 on Anita Road by
Washington Elementary School. Approximately 7 trees will be planted to replace
Acacias.
The Tree Pruning project for 1986 has begun with the trimming of Eucalyptus at
Margarita and Skyline. Davey Tree will conduct the work. Any trees that appear
hazardous to homes are being removed.
Interviews for new commissioners will be conducted by the Council on January 13th
through the 17th. The Council will make its decision soon thereafter.
CARBON The Tree Pruning project is going well. The Sycamores on ECR at Trinity Luth-
eran Church were trimmed by the Park Department. Requests that the small strip
by the sidewalk in front of Safeway on E1 Camino be paved.
NEW BUSINESS
ARBOR DAY - Three large acacias will be removed on Anita Road prior to Arbor Day.
Approximately 7-8 trees will be planted to replace the trees.
SPRING GARDEN SEMINAR - The Commission discussed various program topics for the
March 8, 1986 seminar. Director Quadri will make arrangements for speakers and
publicity. Details for refreshments will be discussed at the next commission
meeting.
