RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO REQUEST APPROVAL OF
CALTRANS TO PROHIBIT LEFT TURNS FROM RALSTON AVENUE ONTO
EL CAMINO REAL
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Burlingame:
WHEREAS, Ralston Avenue is a residential street that intersects El Camino Real, and it is
difficult to safely make a left turn from Ralston Avenue onto El Camino; and
WHEREAS, there are no traffic signals at the intersection of Ralston Avenue and El Camino
Real, but traffic signals are located at the nearby intersections of Burlingame Avenue and El Camino
and Chapin Avenue and El Camino that can and should serve the traffic using Ralston to turn north
on El Camino; and
WHEREAS, the Traffic, Safety and Parking Commission has recommended prohibition of
left turns onto El Camino Real; and
WHEREAS, in order to put this prohibition into place, the consent of Caltrans is required
because El Camino Real is a State highway,
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED AND ORDERED:
1. The Director of Public Works is directed to request Caltrans consent to prohibiting left
turns from Ralston Avenue onto El Camino Real.

resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 21 s t day of August
. 2000, and was adopted thereafter by the following vote:
