HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 086-2000RESOLUTION NO. 86-2000 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME ACCEPTING WITHDRAWAL OF BID OF J. HOWARD ENGINEERING, INC. AND WARDING CONTRACT TO INTERSTATE GRADING AND PAVING INC. FOR 1140 LAGUNA AVENUE PARKING EVIPROVEMENTS CITY PROJECT NO. 9934 RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Burlingame: WHEREAS, the City duly noticed and advertised for bids for the parking improvements at 1140 Laguna Avenue, and received a total of 3 bids for the project on July 31, 2000; and WHEREAS, the lowest apparent bidder, J. Howard Engineering, Inc., has asked that it be allowed to withdraw it bid because of difficulty with submission of the subcontractors and certification; and WHEREAS, the second lowest responsible bidder, Interstate Grading and Paving, Inc., has the experience to perform the work and its bid is only $7,000 higher than the bid submitted by J. Howard; and WHEREAS, it does not appear that re -bidding of this project would save the City any money nor would it likely result in a faster project, NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS FOUND, DETERMINED AND ORDERED: 1. The request by J. Howard Engineering Inc. to be allowed to withdraw its bid is approved. 2. The bid submitted by Interstate Grading and Paving is accepted. 3. The City Manager is authorized and directed to execute the Agreement attached as Exhibit A hereto for Project 9934 by and on behalf of the City. 4.
