Dear Mr. & Mrs. Ossipoff:
At its meeting of January 7, 1988, the Burlingame Beautification Commis-
sion received your letters regarding the tree at 1649 Balboa. Commission
members will review the situation during the coming month, and a decision
will be made at their regularly scheduled meeting on February 4, 1988.
Should you wish to attend, the Commission meets in Conference Room "B"
on the 2nd floor at City Hall, at 5:30 p.m. on the above date.
You should be aware that the Commission will be considering the question
of tree removal only: The repair of damage to private property is not
within their jurisdiction. I have enclosed a claim form if you wish to
pursue damages against the City. This form should be returned to the
office of the City Clerk, 501 Primrose Road, when it has been completed.
Please contact me at 342-8931 X20 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,

Re: 1425 Bellevue Avenue
Dear Gentlepersons,
I manage a family -owned apartment building at 1425 Bellevue Avenue, Burlingame.
In front of the building is an acacia tree, which is messy year-round and
creates problems for our many allergy suffering tenants during the early spring
months with its copious amounts of yellow pollen. We also have a city -owned
liquidamber tree which is consistent with the other trees lining Bellevue.
On our property is a rare, heritage cedar, which is encroached upon by the
City's acacia, and our tree is barely visible from the street when the acacia
- is in leaf. The acacia drops leaves year-round, and we find it to be a highly
undesireable tree for its location.
Burlingame is a city of trees, and as a property manager and a realtor in
this area, I understand the tremendous value that lush landscape adds to
the value of our community. I request that the owners of the building be
allowed to remove the tree at our own cost and replace the tree by one deemed
more appropriate by the city. Perhaps upon inspection, it will be determined
that no other tree is necessary in that location. We would be very pleased
with either solution.
Thank you in advance for your consideration in this matter, and I look
forward to hearing from the committee.
Sincerel
