At its regular meeting of March 5, 1998, the Beautification Commission granted an extension on your
permit to meet replacement requirements for the removal of two protected trees. The permit has been
extended to August 5, 1998. The Commission also waived the required 2 - 24" box size replacement
condition but instead require that you plant at least 6 -1 S gallon size trees.

At its regular meeting of March 5, 1998, the Beautification Commission unanimously voted to deny

RE: Tree Removal Request - 111 Anza Blvd.
The owner of the property at 111 Anza Blvd. is re -landscaping a portion of the property.
The project called for the removal of a number of willow trees. When the project
started, the Park Division was notified by a resident who objected to the removals. City
Arborist Steve Porter visited the site, and determined that most of the trees were under
protected size and therefore did not require a permit: One of the trees scheduled for
removal, however, is a protected tree.
The property owner has now submitted an application for removal of the tree in
question. The Tree Protection ordinance allows for appeal to the Commission after
have made a decision. Since we already know there is an objection, we should count
that original notification as an appeal, and schedule a hearing before the Commission
at the March meeting. This will allow you to render your decision a month sooner than
would otherwise be possible.
