RE: APPEAL PROCESS ON PROTECTED TREE REMOVAL PERMITS
We are attempting to "speed up" the process for applicants appealing denials on requests for the
removal of protected trees. If applicants will submit their appeal at least seven days before the
Commission meeting (allowing it to be placed on the agenda), the hearing will be at that month's
meeting. The applicant and adjacent property owners will be duly notified of the upcoming
hearing date and time.
Please note that items "A" and `B" under New Business will be the first appeals using this new
procedure. Unless there are unforeseen reasons to continue any of these items to the January Yd
Commission meeting, the Commission will be expected to render decisions on these items at this
meeting.

RE: APPEAL OF THE DENIAL TO REMOVE ONE PALM TREE @ 11 KENMAR WAY -
BURLINGAME
Dear Mr. Gong:
At its November 1, 2001 meeting the Burlingame Beautification Commission voted 3 - 2 (opposed)
- 2 (absent) to deny your appeal for the removal of one Palm tree at the above address. The
Commission's decision was based on the fact that the tree is mature and healthy, the damage to
walkway is minimal, and that the spikes on the trunk can be removed.
This decision can be appealed to the City Council in writing within 10 days of receipt of this letter.
If you have any questions, you may contact our office at (650) 558-7330.
Sincerely,
Tim Richmond
