Commissioners DATE: NOVEMBER 28, 2001 TO: BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION FROM: TIM RICHMOND - PARKS SUPERINTENDENT RE: APPEAL PROCESS ON PROTECTED TREE REMOVAL PERMITS We are attempting to "speed up" the process for applicants appealing denials on requests for the removal of protected trees. If applicants will submit their appeal at least seven days before the Commission meeting (allowing it to be placed on the agenda), the hearing will be at that month's meeting. The applicant and adjacent property owners will be duly notified of the upcoming hearing date and time. Please note that items "A" and `B" under New Business will be the first appeals using this new procedure. Unless there are unforeseen reasons to continue any of these items to the January Yd Commission meeting, the Commission will be expected to render decisions on these items at this meeting. The Commission's decision was based on the fact that the tree is mature and healthy, the damage to walkway is minimal, and that the spikes on the trunk can be removed. This decision can be appealed to the City Council in writing within 10 days of receipt of this letter. If you have any questions, you may contact our office at (650) 558-7330. This decision can be appealed to the City Council within 10 days. If no appeal has been received by November 16, 2001, the permit will be issued.
