The Commission noted that neither your request for removal, nor comments contained in your Arborist report, adequately met established criteria to justify the removal of all the Eucalyptus trees. This decision can be appealed to the City Council in writing within 10 days of receipt of this letter. If you have any questions regarding this matter, you may call the Parks Division at (650) 558-7330. REQUEST FOR REMOVAL OF FOUR EUCALYPTUS TREES* 2669 MARTINEZDR. - BURLINGAME I reviewed your request for the removal of four Eucalyptus trees in the back yard of the property at the above address, and have made the following determination: 1) The four trees (#2, 3, 4, & 5) have varying degrees of structural defects. 2) All four trees have a significant amount of backfill soil on the Westerly side of the root mass from past construction. This condition may lead to root rot and instability in the future. 3) Replacement withfour 24" box size trees will be required as defined in Section 11.06.090 of the Urban Reforestation and Tree Protection Ordinance. Note: For clarity, there are seven Eucalyptus trees in a row at this site. Tree #1 is on the downhill (Easterly) side with a 42" diameter trunk; this tree is to be saved. Tree 42. 3, 4, & 5 are to be removed. Trees # 6 & 7 are also to be saved. Therefore, I intend to issue a permit for the removal of the trees subject to the provisions of the Burlingame Municipal Code. If you agree with the conditions, please sign the enclosed permit and return in the self addressed envelope BEFORE April 4, 2001. If you wish to appeal this decision or any of its conditions or findings, you must file a written request bN April 4, 2001 as provided in Section 11.06.080 of the Urban Reforestation and Tree Protection Ordinance (Burlingame Municipal Code Chapter 11.06). The permit will be issued if no appeal has been received by that date.
