The Commission's decision was based on reasons stated by the City Arborist in his letter to you on . October 31, 2003 that: "The Cedar tree is a healthy, mature specimen and the reasons cited do not fall within criteria for removal approval." Further, the Commission also agreed with the City Arborist's comments at the meeting that, pruning of the canopy and/or minor root pruning would mitigate concerns regarding blocked sun light and debris. The Commission, along with the Arborist, did not observe convincing evidence that the tree was the root cause of the mold and/or the cracking to the house. This decision can be appealed to the City Council in writing within 10 days of receipt of this letter. If you have any questions, you may contact our office at (650) 558-7330. Sincerely, r Tim Richmond Parks Superintendent
