Female Tree #5 — 20' tree. Poor structure, large limb removed at one time causing tree to be off balance. Female Tree #6 —20' tree healthy, maintained tree. Male 3. Soil/Root Condition: Trees are growing in a 2-3foot planting strip surrounded by sidewalk and street without irrigation. 4. Injuries: Several wounds evident from past pruning cuts. 5. History of tree/site: According to Park Div records the 5 of the 6 ginkgos were planted some time between 1964 and 1977. 6. Analysis / Testing: All analysis and testing were done visually without any injury to tree. 7. Conclusions and Discussion: Lightly prune and shape all 6 ginkgos. Recommend removal and replacement of all three fruit baring ginkgo trees # 2, 4, 5 in the following order, plus additional plantings of 4-5 more ginkgos in nearby vacant planting strips. #5. Tree is structurally unbalanced and has poor shape. #4. Tree has double leader that may become a hazard if included bark continues to grow. #2. Poor structure. Trimming and thinning west side of tree would be enough to improve structure if dropping fruit is not a high priority for removal. -- r A W BPS s =# ..'. "tea' • _.g*' - r+T ai Kip
