Burlingame is the only city in the county that awards businesses in this way.

L
REPORTS — Commissioner Kirchner — (Contd.)
Commissioner Kirchner reported that he attended a Burlingame Avenue Streetscape Workshop but stated it seemed
the plan had already been set adding he was surprised that only 1 tree specie had been chosen for the planting on the -IN
avenue. City Arborist Disco stated he had suggested several different tree species be planted along the avenue and
commented early on in the process to avoid the planting a monoculture because of the potential issues with a blight
or disease infecting a particular species of tree; noting he had also expressed his concern regarding the selection of
the Gingko tree because it is a slow grower, would take time to clear shop frontages and signage, and would require
aggressive maintenance until a desired height had been reached.
Commissioner Dittman
Commissioner Dittman asked Arborist Disco if the Eucalyptus tree on Easton Drive and Drake Avenue would soon
be trimmed. Arborist Disco reported that the contractor would be trimming the Eucalyptus trees on Easton Drive
this fiscal year and that the tree in question would also be trimmed.
Commissioner Dittman then requested that the Burlingame Avenue Streetscape Project with regard to the selection
of the Gingko tree be placed on the October 4"' agenda for further discussion.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:40 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Karlene Harvey
