RESOLUTION APPROVING CATEGORICAL EXEMPTION
. AND CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT
RESOLVED by the CITY COUNCIL of the City of Burlingame that:
WHEREAS, a categorical exemption has been proposed and application has been made for a conditional
use permit for an addition to an existing church to provide an entrance portico and disabled accessible
restrooms at 1245 El Camino Real zoned R-3 APM 026-154-220• Trinity Lutheran Church of
Burlingame 1245 El Camino Real, Burlingame CA 94010 property owner;
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on said application on March 27.
2000 , at which time said application was denied without prejudice;
WHEREAS, this matter was annealed to City Council and a hearing thereon held on May 15.
2000 , at which time it reviewed and considered the staff report and all other written materials and
testimony presented at said hearing;
NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby RESOLVED and DETERMINED by this Council that:
1. On the basis of the Initial Study and the documents submitted and reviewed, and comments received
and addressed by this commission, it is hereby found that there is no substantial evidence that the project
set forth above will have a significant effect on the environment, and Categorical Exemption, per Article
19. 15301 - Additions to existing structures provided that the addition will not result in an increase of
more than (1) 50 percent of the floor area of the structures before the addition, or 2,500 square feet,
whichever is less, is hereby approved.
2. Said conditional use permit is approved, subject to the conditions set forth in Exhibit "A" attached
hereto. Findings for such conditional use permit are as set forth in the minutes and recording of said
meeting.
3. It is further directed that a certified copy of this resolution be recorded in the official records of
the County of San Mateo.

resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 15th day of May, 2000
and adopted thereafter by the following vote:

effective MAY 15, 2000
that the project, a 353 SF addition for disabled accessible restrooms (254 SF) and entry (99
SF), shall be built as shown on the plans submitted to the Planning Department date stamped
April 21, 2000 sheets P.1, P. 2B and P. 3A and visual simulation date stamped April 21, 2000
(81/2" x 11") showing a redesign to the roof to a four sided hip over the proposed 8'-3" W
x 12'-0" L covered porch addition to the el Camino Real facade of the main church building
with one flat skylight, 4'-0" x 4'-0", tinted to reduce night glow effects, installed in the flat
portion of the roof over the women's rest room;
2. that the five existing parking spaces located at the rear of the site, two of which are disabled
accessible, shall be maintained on the site as long as the church use remains; and
3. that any improvements for the enclosure of the existing arcade and porch addition shall meet
all California Building and Fire Codes, 1998 Edition as amended by the City of Burlingame;
and that this approval is effective for one year from the date of City council action, with one
extension for a maximum of one year by the Planning Commission, if requested prior to
expiration of the first year from date of approval. Issuance of a building permit tolls the
expiration of the permit approval.
