El Camino Real Roadway Renewal Project SAIL Mayor Beach, Councilmember Brownrigg, City Manager Goldman, and Public Works Director Murtuza ■ Caltrans is in the planning phase of this project, which is intended to enhance the function, access, safety, and beauty of this critical corridor, while preserving the character and health of the historic grove. ■ The City and Caltrans held several meetings in 2019 with the City Council Subcommittee and the ECR Taskforce. Caltrans also met with City Commissioners, school leaders, and the Citizens Environmental Council to share information. ■ Caltrans is hosting a community open house on January 28, 2020 to educate, inform, and receive feedback. ■ Additional meetings are planned for robust public engagement during the environmental phase. Image from sfgate.com El Camino Real Roadway Renewal Project ■ The undergrounding of overhead power lines is a component of this project. ■ The estimated cost of undergrounding is $30M; the City has $6M available in PG&E Rule 20A credits to use. Additional funding needs to be identified. Approval from the Federal Railroad Administration is anticipated. The next step is the Final Engineering Design for which an $18.3M Measure A grant was approved. The estimated total project cost is $327M; approximately $300M is needed to complete the project. Staff has hired a grant writer/lobbyist to assist with project advocacy. Bayfront Trail 11-15 Address gaps in the Bayfront Trail by fixing approximately .8 mile along length of trail in Burlingame. Requires acquisition of right-of-way, environmental clearances, and permitting. 3. Green Streets Infrastructure Implementation 7 Implement projects throughout the city (in public right-of-way) to prevent PCBs and other pollutants from entering waterways (required by Regional Water Quality Control Board). 4. Airport Blvd. Improvements 6-8 Widen Airport Blvd. to address planned growth in traffic and development. 5. City Hall Roundabout 4-5 Develop plans and construct a new roundabout in front of the City Hall. 6.
