HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 131-2001RESOLUTION NO. 131-2001 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME REGULATING CITY PARHING LOTS, SETTING TIME LIMITS, AND ESTABLISHING METER RATES RESOLVED, by the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF BURLINGAME, California, that: WHEREAS, Municipal Code title 13 provides the framework for regulating the City's parking lots; and WHEREAS, this Council has from time to time established regulations for time limitations and charges for various City parking lots; and WHEREAS, the City has conducted an extensive parking study of the Burlingame Avenue area to determine what might be the best balance of parking availability and rates in both the public off-street parking lots and the on -street parking spaces that will provide the greatest benefit to motorists, pedestrians, merchants, and property owners; and WHEREAS, offering free parking in certain lots should encourage employees of the businesses to use that parking and leave closer -in parking for greater turnover use by customers; and WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable that amendments and revisions be made to those limitations and charges previously adopted, NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED, ORDERED and DETERMINED as follows: 1. No person shall park any vehicle on any City parking lot for longer than the designated period and, in those lots having parking meters or coin boxes, after the meter has expired or without placing required amounts in the coin box. 11/13/2001 1 2. The time limitations and hours of enforcement set forth on EXHIBIT A attached hereto are hereby adopted and shall supersede any and all such limitations and hours adopted byprior resolutions of this Council. 3. Meters or coin boxes which may be installed on city parking lots shall have the following rates: Lots A and A-3 Lots B-1, K, K-1, L, M, O(metered portion), and V Lots B, G, N, and O (un- metered portion) Lots C and W Lots D, E, and J Lots F and H Lot U 11/13/2001 2 2 -hour meters: 50 cents for 2 hours 9 -hour meters: $1.80 for 9 hours 2 -hour meters: 50 cents for 2 hours A flat rate of $2.00 for up to 10 hours 2 -hour meters: 50 cents for 2 hours l Ohour meters: $2.00 for 10 hours 2 -hour meters: 50 cents for 2 hours 4 -hour meters: $1.50 cents for 4 hours Free parking up to the maximum hours allowed 50 cents for 10 hours All other City lots with meters or coin 2 hour parking: 10 cents per hour boxes 4 hour parking: 25 cents per hour 9 hour parking: 10 hour parking: $1.00 for 9 hours 50 cents for 10 hrs 4. The Director of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to procure and install parking meters or coin boxes and appropriate signs giving notice of the provisions of this resolution. 5. Limitations and charges set forth in this resolution shall be operative upon the installation of such signs, meters and coin boxes; existing limitations and charges shall continue in effect until changed. 6. Resolution Nos. 27-96 and 36-98 are repealed. �-2 MA I, ANN T.
