RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME
DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON
NOVEMBER 6, 2001
RESOLVED by the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY of BURLINGAME that:
WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held in the City of Burlingame, on Tuesday,
the 6th day of November, 2001, and
WHEREAS, the County Clerk was duly requested to hold the election, notice of the election
was duly and regularly given as required by law; voting precincts were duly established; election
officers were appointed and voting supplies famished, and in every respect and manner the election
was held and conducted, and the votes cast were received within the time and manner prescribed by
the law of the State of California controlling elections in general law cities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Elections Code §§ 10262 and 10264, the City Council of the City
of Burlingame duly convened in the Council Chambers at City Hall on Tuesday, the 20th day of
November 2001, following receipt of the County Clerk's Certificate of Election, to accept the
Certificate of the canvass of the returns of the election, to declare the results of the election, and to
install the newly elected officers, and as a result of such canvass, the City Council finds that the
number of votes cast, the persons for whom such votes were cast, and all other matters required by
law are hereinafter stated;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that:
1. The election held in the City of Burlingame on the 6th day of November, 2001, was
conducted in the time, manner and form required by the laws of the State of California governing
elections in general law cities.
2. The number of ballots cast in the election, the names of the persons and offices voted for,
the measures voted upon, and the number of votes given at each precinct and in the City to each
candidate are as set forth in EXHIBIT A attached hereto.
3. At this General Municipal Election, the following persons received the highest number of
votes cast for and were elected to the office of City Councilmember for a term of four (4) years:
ROSALIE O'MAHONY
CATHY BAYLOCK
JOE GALLIGAN
4. At this General Municipal Election, the following person received the highest number of
votes cast for and was elected to the office of City Clerk for a term of four (4) years:
ANN MUSSO
5. At this General Municipal Election, the measure submitted to the voters to determine
whether to amend the Burlingame Municipal Code to sustain and continue an increase in the
transient occupancy tax rate from eight percent (8%) to ten percent (10%) on the rent charged hotel
guests within the City of Burlingame was adopted.
6. At this General Municipal Election, the measure submitted to the voters to determine
whether to amend the Burlingame Municipal Code to sustain and continue an increase in the general
business license tax rate from $50 per year to $100 per year within the City of Burlingame was
adopted.
7. At this General Municipal Election, the measure submitted to the voters to determine
whether to amend the Burlingame Municipal Code to establish a business license tax of five percent
(5%) of gross receipts on operators of commercial parking facilities within the City of Burlingame
was adopted.

8. The City Clerk is requested to deliver the certificates of election as provided in the
Elections Code.

foregoing resolution was introduced at a special meeting of the City Council held on the
20thday of November 2001, and adopted thereafter by the following vote:
