We have ,,,Aways enjoyed seeing this activity in the neighborhood park and particularly appreciate it now that our youngest daughter Cristina is playing softball. The league's plans to build a batting cage will hopefully be approved as well. Girls softball in Burlingame is a true treasure and jewel in this community. Please continue to provide the support for this important program. As we will be unable to attend tonight's meeting, we would appreciate it if you could pass on this communication to the Park and Rec Commission members. Thanks, Ernie and Maria Ribera 2614 Hale Drive Nov 15 07 09:02a Escobosa (6501 344-7892 fir, Is -ns November 14, 2007 Burlingame Parks & Recreation Commission Burlingame City Hall 501 Primrose Road Burlingame, CA 94010 Dear Parks & Recreation Commissioners: I have a few concerns about the Proposed Modifications to Ray Park's Ball fields. I would like to share with you the impact on the neighborhood that the past modifications have made. Since I moved here 1974 these changes have seriously impacted our life style. l . We can no longer take a stroll up to the park on the weekend and sit on the grass to have a family picnic. All of the grass is marked for the ball games. 2. Having a party or a barbecue at our home during the summer is impossible. There is no parking available within a two block radius. There is inadequate parking available to persons visiting Ray Park for the playground, a ball game, or the --- > reserved picnic area. 3. We can no longer leave our dogs off the leash at the park to allow them to — > socialize with other dogs. A time that many of us truly enjoyed, as we could visit and our pets could socialize with one another. 4. We are forced to deal with parking problems during Lincoln school functions that take place a couple of times a year. 5. The noise that comes from the park, during the games, at times is very annoying. 6. The yelling and screaming on opening day and at Championship games is unbearable. Earlier this year, I read the neighbors around Mercy complained about the noise and inconvenience that functions at Mercy had on them. The only impact on the neighborhood was noise because Mercy has adequate parking on their grounds. Because of the noise the City Council voted to limit the number of functions that the Sisters of Mercy can have on their grounds. These functions are a source of income for the Sisters of Mercy. I found that disturbing and unnecessary since Mercy has adequate parking. I took many things into consideration when I bought my home in 1974. Accessibility to church, school's, and parks were major factors in our decision to relocate to Burlingame. I was very pleased to have a neighborhood park within walking distance. Ray Park was a Nov 15 07 09:02a Escobosa (6501 344-7892 p.3 neighborhood park for the immediate neighbors to enjoy. This is no longer the case; it has become a softball park for Burlingame Hillsborough leagues to enjoy. To add one more thing that would bring one more car to our neighborhood would be totally inconsiderate to the neighbors of Ray Park since we already do not have adequate parking. The reason that I am sending this by FAX is because I am physically challenged! I am displeased that I just got the notice from one of my preferably selected neighbors that you decided to send it to. All of the Ray Park neighbors that would be impacted by this 00 C-- change deserved the right to receive a letter that would ultimately impact them. Because of this letter not being accessible to all of the neighbors I am forced to send a fax, I could not meet the required 24 hour notice that you request if I wanted to attend the meeting. May I suggest that our neighbor town of Hillsborough fix up some of their parks and make them a little more desirable so that more Burlingame Hillsborough Ieague games can be played in their parks.
