HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin - BC - 2017.03.02BURLINGAME BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION Approved Minutes March 2, 2017 The regularly scheduled meeting of the Beautification Commission was called to order at 6:30 pm by Commissioner Hinckle. 12101]0 WOO 00 Present: Commissioners Hunt (Arrived at 6:42), Deason, Hinckle and Kearney Absent: Commissioner Kirchner Staff: Parks and Recreation Director Glomstad, Parks Superintendent/City Arborist Disco and Recording Secretary Borba MINUTES Commissioner Kearny made a motion to approve the February 2, 2017 minutes. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Deason and unanimously approved. CORRESPONDENCE Reminder to Commissioners to file their annual Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700) 2017 Business Landscape Award posting in Recreation Brochure. PUBLIC COMMENT None 10 VAN I-110 lei OCRI 1. Quality of Life in Burlingame Presentation Police Chief Eric Wollman presented the Quality of Life in Burlingame Presentation to the Commissioners. 2. Sustainable Landscape Presentation — Sigalle Michael, Sustainability Coordinator Sigalle Michael, Sustainability Coordinator presented to the Commission information regarding residential sustainable landscapes. Sigalle provided the Commissioners with a handout that outlined what to look for when looking at potential sustainable landscapes for the Residential Sustainable Landscape Award. 3. Arbor Day— March 7, 2017 Secretary Borba stated that Arbor Day is Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 10:30am in Washington Park. She asked which Commissioners would be attending. Commissioners Hunt, Hinckle, Deason and Kearney will attend. Director Glomstad went over the Arbor Day agenda with the Commissioners. OLD BUSINESS None REPORTS 1. Parks Superintendent/City Arborist Arborist Disco gave an update on the Eucalyptus trees on Burlingame Avenue that were lost in the storm. Three trees fell due to high winds, rain and decay in the roots. Four more Eucalyptus were removed due to being unstable in the ground. We also lost a large Stone Pine tree in Washington Park. 2. Commissioner Kearney Commissioner Kearney inquired if the City lost any trees on El Camino Real during the storms. Arbor Disco replied we did not. She also stated the Commissioner Dinner is March 10th 7. Commissioner Deason None The next Beautification Commission meeting is April 6, 2017.
