Speakers may address the Commission concerning any matter over which the Commission has
jurisdiction or of which it may take cognizance that is not on the agenda. Additional public comments
on agenda action items will be heard when the Commission takes up those items. The Ralph M. Brown
Act (the State local agency open meeting law) prohibits the Commission from acting on any matter that
is not on the agenda. Speakers are asked to fill out a "request to speak" card located on the table by
the door and hand it to staff, although provision of name, address or other identifying information is
optional. Speakers are limited to three minutes each, although the Commission may adjust the time
limit in light of the number of anticipated speakers.

Draft Minutes June 7, 2018
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Beautification Commission was called to order at 6:30 pm by
Commission Chair Hinckle.
ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioners Hinckle, Kearney, Hunt and Dinuri
Absent: Commissioner Kirchner
Staff. Parks Superintendent/City Arborist Disco, and Recording Secretary Borba
Others: None
MINUTES
Parks Superintendent/City Arborist Disco stated there is a correction to Commissioner Kirchner's
Commissioner Report on the 6t1i line "Commissioner Kirchner stated the Task Forces recommendation
was to replant Accolade Elms and Eucalyptus Citredoras with a 70/30 ratio," it should read
"Commissioner Kirchner stated the Task Forces recommendation was to replant with a mix of disease
resistant Elms and Citriodora Eucalyptus to `other' species at a ratio of 70:30". Commissioner Hunt made
a motion to approve the April 5, 2018 minutes as amended. The motion was seconded by Commissioner
Dinuri and unanimously approved.

OLD BUSINESS
1. Business Landscape and Residential Sustainable Landscape Award Draft Nominations and
Ideas for an Award Presented to the Residential Sustainable Landscape Winner
The Commission submitted their nominations for the Business Landscape Award and Residential
Sustainable Landscape Award and discussed the nominations. The Commissioners will vote on the
awards at the August Beautification Commission meeting. The Commission will discuss the
Residential Sustainable Landscape Award plaque further as an agenda item at the next meeting when
Commissioner Kirchner is in attendance.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Cancellation of the July Beautification Commission Meeting
Commission Chair Hinckle moved to cancel the July 5, 2018 Beautification Commission meeting.
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Hunt and unanimously approved.
REPORTS
1. Parks Superintendent/City Arborist
Arborist Disco reported all Commissioners received an email requesting they go online and take a
survey regarding the Community Center Master Plan. Director Glomstad is out in the Community
getting feedback regarding design style. The kiosk showing the design styles is in the Recreation
hallway.
The Parks Division will be removing two Fir trees in Washington Park and one Eucalyptus on Easton.
At the last budget meeting the City Council approved Skyline Park and Fitness Equipment on the
Bayfront. These are two projects that the Parks Division will be working on in the new fiscal year.

Commissioner Hinckle will contact Dale Perkins regarding the Business Landscape Award.

The next Beautification Commission meeting is July 5, 2018. There being no further business, the
meeting adjourned at 7:05 pm.
