HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso - CC - 101-2002RESOLUTION rnt-70n2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME RESCINDING AUTHORIZATION AND DIRECTION TO APPLY TO THE CALIFORNIA INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD FOR A TIME EXTENSION FOR THE CITY OF BURLINGAME TO ACHIEVE THE STATE GOAL OF FIFTY PERCENT FOR WASTE DIVERSION RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Burlingame: WHEREAS, the City has implemented a wide-ranging waste diversion program, including curbside recycling, yard waste recycling, and construction debris recycling; and WHEREAS, on November 19, 2001, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 125-2001 authorizing the City Manager to apply to the California Integrated Waste Management Board for a an extension to achieve the State goal of fifty percent for waste diversion; and WHEREAS, the City's citizens have made remarkable increases in the rate of diversion; and WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Board staff have reviewed the progress and the programs that the City has provided, and are satisfied with the City's compliance at this time and have suggested that the extension request not be pursued further; and WHEREAS, experts that the City has consulted have agreed with that rescission, NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED: 1. The City Manager is authorized and directed to rescind the extension request made to the California Integrated Waste Management Board. MAYOR I, ANN T. MUSSO, City Clerk of the City of Burlingame, do hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 3rdday of September 2002, and was adopted thereafter by the following vote: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: BAYLOCK, COFFEY, CALLIGAN, JANNEY, O'MAHONY NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ITY CLERK
